Free Roam Brewing Company is a faith-based, God-centered brewery and community venue with a mission bigger than beer. We exist to strengthen our community, support first responders, veterans, LEO, and school administration while creating a place where people feel welcomed, encouraged, and connected.


We’re looking for an experienced, innovative, and detail-driven Head Brewer / Brewmaster to lead all brewing operations for our growing craft brewery. If you care deeply about craft, community, and purposeful work, you’ll fit right in.


Position Summary

The Head Brewer is responsible for all brewing, cellar, packaging, and production operations, while upholding the high standards and community-centered values Free Roam is known for.

This role requires:

You’ll manage and mentor assistant brewing staff, maintain regulatory compliance, oversee competitions and festivals, and support keg sales and inventory.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who blends technical brewing expertise with creativity, operational excellence, and a heart for service.


Key Responsibilities

Brewery Operations

Brewhouse & Cellar

  • Manage CraftMaster Stainless brewhouse and cellar equipment
  • Execute cleaning, sanitation, and routine maintenance
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on brewing systems and walk-in coolers
  • Oversee draft line deep cleaning and maintenance
  • Lead wort production, yeast management, and fermentation monitoring
  • Maintain cellar organization, product movement, and inventory control
  • Develop, track, and cost recipes; spearhead flavor and recipe innovation
  • All other duties as assigned

Safety & Standards

  • Create, update, and enforce brewery SOPs and safety manuals
  • Manage PPE inventory and ordering
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures across all production activities

Materials & Financial Tracking

  • Source, order, and manage raw materials
  • Track raw material spending and batch costing
  • Manage equipment rentals, subscriptions, and maintenance schedules
  • Maintain accurate financial and production records

Scheduling & Team Leadership

  • Manage and train Assistant Brewer(s)
  • Build and maintain weekly brewing and packaging schedules
  • Provide skills training, beer education, and professional development


Compliance & Administration

  • Maintain accurate TABC and TTB documentation and compliance
  • Manage beer competition entries
  • Keep all beer menus updated across platforms (printed menus, Untappd, website)


Staff Training & Product Quality

  • Lead taproom staff education, including beer styles and off-flavor training
  • Track beer inventory levels and forecast production needs
  • Manage third-party and Ben E. Keith ordering (cider, NA cans, kombucha, etc.)


Account & Keg Sales

  • Track keg inventory and support keg sales operations
  • Manage key accounts
  • Maintain memberships with the Texas Craft Brewers Guild and Brewers Association
  • Register, staff, and execute beer festivals and community events


Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of professional brewing experience
  • Strong knowledge of brewing science, cellar operations, and fermentation management
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Familiarity with TTB/TABC requirements
  • Proven recipe development and creativity
  • Ability to lift 55+ lbs and work in hot/cold environments
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management
  • Leadership experience preferred
