Rumson’s Rum is a fast-growing premium rum brand focused on authentic storytelling, strong market presence, and memorable consumer experiences. As part of Pirate Dog Brand LLC, we’re building a bold, distinctive brand that stands out both on retail shelves and behind the bar.
We’re looking for someone who is equally comfortable opening new retail accounts, building relationships in restaurants and bars, and representing the brand in the market. If you’re driven, outgoing, entrepreneurial, and excited to help grow a memorable spirits brand, we’d love to hear from you.
Compensation
• Base Salary: $50,000 annually
• Performance-Based Commission: Target earnings of $25,000+ annually
• Mileage Reimbursement for travel within assigned territory
• Monthly Marketing & Tasting Stipend
• Total Target Compensation: $75,000+
What You’ll Do
This role combines outside sales, retail execution, and brand development, with a primary focus on growing retail accounts and expanding brand visibility throughout the market.
Drive Sales & Open New Accounts
• Prospect, pitch, and secure new retail accounts, restaurants, and bars
• Build strong relationships with retail buyers, store managers, owners, and hospitality decision-makers
• Grow existing accounts through consistent follow-up, merchandising, and relationship management
• Achieve and exceed territory sales goals
• Identify opportunities to increase placements, visibility, and reorders
Retail Execution & Brand Visibility
• Maintain strong shelf presence through displays, signage, and merchandising
• Improve product visibility and shelf positioning within retail accounts
• Coordinate and execute in-store tastings and samplings to drive consumer trial and sales
• Educate retail staff and consumers on Rumson’s Rum products and brand story
Restaurant & Bar Development
• Build relationships with bartenders, managers, and beverage directors
• Secure cocktail menu placements and featured pours
• Increase brand awareness through staff engagement and account activations
Distributor & Market Collaboration
• Partner with distributor representatives to drive placements and account growth
• Track account activity, sales performance, and market opportunities
• Stay informed on industry trends across spirits, retail, and hospitality
Operations & Team Support
• Assist with occasional operational needs including bottling, labeling, packaging, inventory organization, and order preparation
• Support logistics and operational initiatives that contribute to overall business growth
• Contribute wherever needed as part of a growing entrepreneurial team
Own Your Territory
• Manage your schedule and prioritize high-impact accounts
• Maintain an organized sales pipeline and account base
• Utilize CRM and sales tools to track visits, activity, and progress
• Represent the brand professionally at tastings, events, and local activations
What We’re Looking For
• 1–5 years of sales, hospitality, retail, or customer-facing experience
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills
• Outgoing personality with confidence engaging consumers in tasting environments
• Self-motivated, competitive, and comfortable closing deals
• Ability to manage a territory independently and stay organized
• Willingness to contribute across both sales and operational responsibilities
• Collaborative mindset and team-oriented attitude
Bonus Points If You Have
• Experience in spirits, beer, wine, or CPG sales
• Experience conducting tastings, samplings, or promotional events
• Existing relationships with retail accounts, restaurants, or bars
• Familiarity with CRM platforms and distributor systems such as Salesforce, VIP, Karma, Crafted, or similar tools
What the Job Requires
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout assigned territory
• Flexible schedule with evening and weekend availability, including:
o Thursday evenings
o Friday evenings
o Saturday afternoons/evenings
o Occasional Sundays
• Availability to conduct 9+ tastings/events per month
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs for displays, cases, and event setup
• Comfort working independently in a fast-paced, field-based environment
