Trillium is seeking a dynamic and experienced Sales Manager to aid in growing our wholesale business segment in Massachusetts with a focus on Boston and North Shore communities. This role encompasses a comprehensive range of responsibilities, from planning and analysis, to lead development, and account management for our entire portfolio of world-class beer, spirits, and canned beverages. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of sales within the Alcohol Beverage Industry, demonstrate exceptional relationship-building skills, and have a keen understanding of market dynamics.
This position is based in our Canton, MA location but is expected to be primarily in the market visiting accounts and prospects. The Sales Manager will report directly to the VP of Sales & Marketing.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Account Management & Business Development
- Communicate and visit with current and prospective accounts weekly regarding product availability, manage expectations accordingly, and coordinate orders with Trillium’s logistics team. Most a-typical weeks will involve 1-2 administrative days in office, and 3-4 days in the Boston area market.
- Utilize proprietary tools, Salesforce CRM, and our Shopify driven wholesale e-commerce platform to effectively track customer interactions, accurately forecast sales, manage inventory, process orders, and provide exceptional customer service.
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Trillium product offerings, our systems, and processes to inform account purchasing decisions that lead to mutual success.
- Monitor and assist with Accounts Receivable; ensuring compliance with State reporting laws.
- Actively participate in weekly sales meetings with prepared reports, market observations, and opportunity snapshots.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Department to activate key accounts for special events (i.e.- tap takeovers, collaboration dinners, tastings, etc.).
Planning & Analysis
- Develop and maintain an accurate territory sales forecast to inform production needs.
- Carefully track and monitor sales performance versus quarterly and annual sales goals and KPIs.
- Regularly assess and modify plans based on market performance, product allocations, and inventory levels.
- Monitor competitive, consumer, and pricing trends to inform internal sales strategies.
- Conduct business review meetings with key accounts to ensure alignment and effectiveness.
Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
Desired Qualifications & Abilities
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of sales experience in the Beverage Alcohol Industry
- Proficiency with Google Business Suite
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and occasionally travel overnight to support account activations.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds, operate in sometimes confined spaces, and stand for long periods.
- DOT Certification within 30 Days of Hire
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Fundamental knowledge of Salesforce CRM or similar software capabilities and practices
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with accounts, distributors, and team members.
- In-depth knowledge of on- and off-premise business in Massachusetts and the three-tier distribution system across the US.
- Adherence to strict timelines and responsiveness to business issues in a timely manner.
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask and balance multiple deadlines without micro-management.
