Role Overview


The Chief Financial & Strategy Officer (CFSO) is a key member of the executive leadership team, serving as a strategic partner to the CEO, executive team, and Board of Directors. This role goes beyond traditional financial leadership. The CFSO will help shape the long-term vision and strategy of the company, using finance as a creative and strategic tool to support sustainable growth, innovation, and cultural alignment. We are seeking a leader who balances financial rigor with imagination, who leads through mentorship and collaboration, and who brings outside-the-box thinking to how we build and scale an industry-leading, values-driven organization.


Headquarters based in Boulder, CO (preferred location) or hybrid with ability to travel. 


Key Responsibilities


Financial Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with company goals, values, and long-term vision
  • Partner with the executive team to drive profitability, optimize performance, and support sustainable growth
  • Translate strategic vision into actionable financial plans and forecasts

Strategic Leadership

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute long-term strategic initiatives
  • Evaluate market trends, competitive dynamics, and new growth opportunities
  • Support innovation, expansion, and new business models with thoughtful financial insight

Fundraising & Investor Relations

  • Lead fundraising efforts and maintain strong relationships with investors and key stakeholders
  • Prepare and present financial and strategic materials to investors and the Board
  • Clearly articulate the company’s financial position and long-term strategy

Financial Operations & Governance

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, cash flow management, and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Strengthen financial systems, processes, and controls to support scale

People, Culture & Mentorship

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team
  • Foster a collaborative, transparent, and growth-oriented culture
  • Embed People & Planet values into financial decision-making and strategy
  • Model inclusive, values-driven leadership across the organization

M&A, Partnerships & Long-Term Planning

  • Evaluate strategic partnerships, acquisitions, and investment opportunities
  • Lead financial due diligence and scenario planning
  • Partner with leadership and the Board on long-term value creation and potential exit strategies

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Sales, Business Intelligence, Operations, and other teams to provide financial insights
  • Support data-informed decision-making across the organization
  • Act as a strategic thought partner across departments


Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred
  • Proven experience as a CFO or senior financial leader, ideally within a high-growth or VC-backed environment
  • Strong strategic and financial acumen, with the ability to turn data into insight and action
  • Experience with fundraising, investor relations, and Board-level communication
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, and people development skills
  • Exceptional communication skills with both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Experience in natural foods, food & beverage, or consumer packaged goods is a plus

Reporting Structure

This role reports directly to the CEO & Co-Founder and works closely with the executive leadership team and Board of Directors. Green Spoon encourages a flat organizational structure where leaders are proactive, collaborative, and deeply aligned.
