Grand Fir Brewing is looking for a talented, passionate and all around stellar brewer to join our small but solid brew team. Located in inner SE Portland, Grand Fir Brewing is a Brewery and Restaurant offering insanely delicious food and of course, world class beer. Started in 2022, GFB has taken home countless medals at World Beer Cup and GABF, winning Brewery of the Year in 2024. At GFB, we are serious about making nothing but perfect beer through hard work, research/development, and determination. Currently at 1000 bbl production, we are expanding with plans for a second location in the near future which would increase us to around 1700 bbls per year. 


We are looking for someone who has the following:

  • 3+ years brewing experience.
  • Works well in a small team.
  • Has a positive attitude and is able to receive feedback well.
  • Pays extreme, unwavering attention to detail.
  • Must LOVE IPA’s and adjacent styles.


As Brewer, your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following duties:

  • Will work in tandem with Brewmaster with wort production and cellar work according to SOPs. 
  • Will work in tandem with Brewmaster in creating/forecasting production schedules. 
  • Will work in tandem with Brewmaster to order ingredients, supplies and chemicals as needed.
  • Will work with Brewmaster to create new recipes and tweak existing.
  • Regularly perform cellar duties such as carbonating, transferring, kegging and CIP of tanks.
  • Oversee weekly distribution orders while ensuring volume requirements are met.
  • Oversee draft list and quality of beer on line.
  • Work directly with Assistant Brewer and delegate tasks as needed.
  • Assisting with Keg Washing as needed. 
  • Assist with Bi-Weekly Line Cleaning as needed.
  • Grain handling, i.e. transport of malt and grain out.
  • Maintain established quality parameters within the raw material handling, cellaring, and wort production.
  • Record and communicate daily completed tasks via shared electronic notes as well as tank/fermentation status on all beers.
  • Record and verify all required data within the brewery from brew house to bright beer tank operations.
  • Maintain sanitary standards for the microbial integrity of the products.
  • Maintain the operational and aesthetic condition of the facility..
  • Material inventories and organization.
  • Manage, schedule and assist in regular maintenance on brewery equipment.


Requirements:

  • Ability to repetitively lift and carry heavy items (25-75lbs) upstairs.
  • Able to work in a cold environment for multiple hours. 
  • Able to work early morning and late night shifts.
  • Must be organized in thought and action.
  • Must have the ability to meticulously follow a recipe and process. 
  • Must be able to follow directions from the Brewmaster. 
  • Able to conduct clear and effective communication with all GFB staff.
  • Must be able to have fun and hang with a kick ass team.
