Role Overview

The Vice President of Business Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for owning the operational backbone of Good Boy Vodka, with direct accountability for all regulatory and compliance functions across federal and state jurisdictions. This role ensures the business can scale nationally while remaining fully compliant with TTB regulations, state alcohol laws, licensing requirements, and approvals.

This individual serves as the central point of control for regulatory execution while also partnering closely with leadership across finance, sales, marketing, and operations to support growth, innovation, and market expansion.

Core Responsibilities

Regulatory Affairs & Compliance (Primary Ownership)

• Own and oversee all federal and state regulatory compliance for Good Boy Vodka
• Serve as the primary authority on TTB regulations, including:
• COLA submissions and approvals
• Formula submissions and approvals
• Label, packaging, and claim compliance
• Own state-level brand registrations, licenses, permits, and renewals across all U.S. jurisdictions
• Ensure compliance with state ABC regulations related to:
• Distribution and pricing
• Marketing, sampling, and promotions
• Product classifications (spirits, RTDs, malt-based beverages)
• Monitor regulatory changes and proactively advise leadership on risk, impact, and required actions
• Serve as the primary liaison with:
• TTB and state regulatory agencies
• Legal counsel and external compliance advisors
• Distributors and co-packers on compliance matters

Operational Leadership & Scale

• Build, implement, and manage scalable compliance and operational processes
• Ensure regulatory readiness for new product launches, innovation, and market expansion
• Partner with R&D, marketing, and operations to ensure products are compliant from concept through launch
• Support distributor onboarding and national expansion initiatives
• Establish documentation, SOPs, and training related to compliance and operations

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with:
• Finance on reporting, tax implications, and audit readiness
• Sales on state-specific rules and go-to-market execution
• Marketing on compliant messaging, POS, and activations
• Provide clear guidance to internal teams on regulatory requirements and constraints
• Enable teams to move fast without regulatory missteps

Risk Management & Governance

• Identify and mitigate regulatory and operational risks
• Maintain audit-ready records and compliance documentation
• Support internal and external audits
• Ensure the company maintains strong governance as it scales

Leadership & Team Development

• Build and lead internal compliance and operations resources as the company grows
• Manage external vendors, consultants, and advisors
• Set priorities, timelines, and accountability across compliance initiatives

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in beverage alcohol operations, regulatory affairs, or compliance
• Deep expertise with TTB regulations and processes
• Extensive experience managing multi-state alcohol compliance
• Proven success supporting national brand expansion
• Strong understanding of spirits, RTDs, and malt beverage regulatory frameworks
• Experience in high-growth or entrepreneurial beverage brands strongly preferred
