Position Overview

New Trail Brewing Company is seeking a Brewer to join our Production Team in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The Brewer is responsible for wort production, cellar operations, and maintaining beer quality throughout the production process. This is a hands on production position that requires attention to detail, consistency, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work effectively as part of a fast paced production team.

Our Brewers are expected to understand and follow established procedures while taking ownership of the quality of the beer they produce. From raw materials through finished beer, the goal is simple: make consistently excellent beer, safely and efficiently.

About New Trail Brewing Company

New Trail Brewing Company opened in Williamsport, Pennsylvania in 2018 and has grown into one of the largest independent craft breweries in the country.

Our production facility includes a 15 BBL three vessel Quality Tank Solutions brewhouse, a 60 BBL four vessel automated QTS brewhouse, and a cellar ranging from 15 BBL to 560 BBL tanks. New Trail currently produces approximately 60,000 BBL annually and distributes throughout the Mid Atlantic and Northeast.

New Trail was recognized by the Brewers Association as the Fastest Growing Brewery in America in 2021 and the 46th largest independent craft brewery in the United States in 2025. In 2025, New Trail was also named Brewbound's Craft Brewery of the Year.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate both manual and automated brewhouse systems for wort production

• Perform all aspects of cellar operations, including fermentation management, dry hopping, transfers, carbonation, and preparation of finished beer

• Perform CIP and COP procedures on brewhouse equipment, fermentation vessels, bright beer tanks, process piping, and other production equipment

• Follow established recipes, SOPs, production schedules, and quality standards

• Accurately record production data and complete required production documentation

• Collect samples and perform routine quality checks throughout the brewing and cellaring process

• Handle yeast according to established procedures, including harvesting, pitching, and tracking

• Transfer wort and beer between fermentation vessels, bright beer tanks, oak vessels, and other production equipment

• Safely handle brewing ingredients, processing aids, cleaning chemicals, and other production materials

• Assist with raw material preparation, inventory, organization, and general production needs

• Identify and communicate equipment, process, quality, and safety concerns to production leadership

• Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary production areas

• Participate in production meetings, training, sensory evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives

• Follow all New Trail Brewing Company safety policies and procedures

• Assist other members of the Production Team as operational needs require

Qualifications

• Previous professional brewing or beverage production experience preferred

• Formal brewing education is a plus, but not required

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency

• Ability to follow established procedures and accurately document production activity

• Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the Production Team

• Understanding of brewery sanitation, fermentation, and beer production principles preferred

• Willingness to learn New Trail's equipment, processes, recipes, and quality standards

• Passion for beer and an interest in continuing to develop professionally within the brewing industry

Physical Requirements

This is a physically demanding production position. Brewers must be able to:

• Regularly lift and move up to 55 pounds

• Maneuver hoses, pumps, fittings, kegs, and other brewery equipment

• Stand and walk for extended periods

• Frequently bend, kneel, climb, reach, push, and pull

• Safely work on ladders and elevated platforms

• Work in wet, hot, cold, humid, and noisy production environments

• Safely work around pressurized vessels, hot liquids, steam, chemicals, moving equipment, and other normal brewery production hazards

• Wear required personal protective equipment

Schedule

This is a full time production position.

New Trail operates multiple production shifts, and Brewers must have the flexibility to work the shift assigned to their position. Depending on production needs, schedules may include early mornings, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and occasional holidays.

Reliable and consistent attendance is an essential requirement of the position.
