Rockstar Energy Drink: Sparkling Cherry Citrus (2013)

Rockstar’s Cherry Citrus “Sparkling” Energy drink is a seltzer-like product that has a softer vibe than its primary line, both in terms of flavor and branding. On the inside of the can, the product has an Ace-K and sucralose-sweetened formulation and conatins zero calories. The flavor is pleasant and noticeably lighter in the mouth than many of Rockstar’s other flavors. To that end, it’s very much like drinking diet soda (aside from perhaps the beverage's lack of color), with cherry and citrus flavors making it a very thirst-quenching experience. However, this product is not about being a thirst quencher -- this is a full-fledged energy drink. The product definitely packs some punch, with 160mg of natural caffeine, B vitamins and taurine making up the energy blend. On the outside, the product sticks within the same format as other Rockstar products, but the design feels much less aggressive than the brand's typical package. That said, this product feels like it will stick out from the Rockstar pack a little more than some of its other varieties. Overall, it’s a unique -- at least in comparison to other offerings from the big three energy drink makers -- and definitely enjoyable product.
