Role Purpose
The Retail Account Commercial Executive supports the commercial success of both national and smaller retail accounts by managing administrative processes, building performance reports, maintaining accurate data, and fostering positive relationships with retail partners. This role blends strong organizational skills, commercial acumen, and proactive communication to ensure accounts are managed efficiently and profitably.
Key Responsibilities
Account & Relationship Management
- Act as a day-to-day point of contact for smaller retail accounts, ensuring high service levels and quick resolution of queries.
- Maintain positive working relationships with buyers, merchandisers, and other retail stakeholders.
- Support national account managers by handling routine communications, follow-ups, and updates with larger accounts.
- Identify and act on opportunities to increase sales and strengthen partnerships.
- Administrative & Operational Support
- Provide full administrative support for national accounts, ensuring all account documentation, product listings, and promotional calendars are accurate and up to date.
- Process new product set-ups, price changes, and promotional funding requests in accordance with account requirements.
- Coordinate with supply chain, finance, and marketing to ensure smooth execution of account activities.
Data Management & Reporting
- Gather, analyze, and maintain sales, stock, and promotional performance data.
- Produce weekly and monthly reports for internal teams and retail partners, highlighting trends, opportunities, and risks.
- Monitor account scorecards, ensuring data accuracy across CRM, ERP, and retailer portals.
Promotions & Merchandising
- Plan and coordinate promotional activity with both national and smaller retail accounts.
- Ensure POS materials and in-store displays are delivered and implemented on time.
- Work with merchandising teams to maximize product visibility and availability during key trading periods.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong administrative and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent relationship management and customer service skills.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis capability.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of retail account dynamics.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (preferred).
- 2–4 years’ experience in retail account management, sales support, or commercial administration.
- Experience producing performance reports and managing sales/stock data.
- Exposure to both large and smaller retail accounts is advantageous.
