This position oversees all FOH operations and staff. This position relies on stellar communication skills and a passionate dedication to hiring, training, supervising, and leading an effective body of FOH staff. The FOH Manager carries an in-depth knowledge of and passion for service/hospitality, beer, presentation of beverages and food, our brand history, events, and is able to convey this knowledge to others. Varying schedule to include weekends, evenings, holidays, and extended hours as business dictates.
Essential Functions:
Managerial
- Hiring, training, and coaching FOH employees to become active members of our team
- Overseeing FOH schedules in compliance with labor budgets.
- Overseeing FOH inventory management
- Monitoring and working to support FOH sales, labor costs, and Costs of Goods Sold (COGS)
- Working with FOH staff to maximize efficiencies in service and Costs of Goods.
- Responding to customer and employee complaints in a timely manner.
- Planning/enacting corrective action for employees as appropriate
- Ensuring compliance from all FOH employees with company policies
- Adhering to and enforcing all applicable local, state, and federal alcohol laws, rules, regulations, and our responsibilities as a member of the OLCC Responsible Vendor Program
- Overseeing all FOH performance reviews
- Leading FOH meetings and pre-shifts, including food and beer education
- Staffing festivals and events with both staff and external volunteers as needed
- Overseeing the FOH during the Festival of Dark Arts
- Overseeing maintenance of FOH equipment, including Point of Sale (POS) and FOH printer maintenance, and responding to issues as needed
General
- Overseeing security of the building and its occupants, including verifying all doors, windows, and entrances are locked at the end of closing shifts
- Possessing in-depth knowledge of our restaurant spaces and operations
- Regularly working FOH shifts, and filling in for absent staff as needed
- Ability to navigate and coach staff through scheduling, communication, and payroll app
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Ideal Qualifications
- Significant previous management experience in full service restaurant setting required, high volume experience preferred.
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Valid Food Handlers card required (must be obtained within 30 days from first date of employment)
- Valid OLCC Server’s Permit required (must be obtained by first day of training)
- Cicerone Certified Beer Server Certification (or higher) required within 90 days of employment
- Ability to read labels on chemicals
- Knowledge of workplace and safety procedures (may be obtained upon hire)
- Ability to communicate with patrons, purveyors, and coworkers in English
- Basic math competency, including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and computation of rates, ratios, and percentages
- High-level proficiency with our Point of Sale and other relevant platforms (may be obtained during training)
- Strong competency with Google Suite platforms
- Other duties as assigned supervisor(s)
