Join our team in San Leandro as an Innovations Brewer! We are seeking a motivated individual with brewing experience to play a key role in our strain development team. You will operate our 3 BBL pilot brewery, supporting yeast strain development and commercialization efforts. Our brewhouse feeds multiple alleys of 20-liter fermenters, from a single batch of wort. The pilot brewery is central to our R&D efforts, producing in-house sensory samples and industry samples that demonstrate the capabilities of our strains. Quality and consistency are required in our process.


Key Responsibilities 

The primary responsibility of the Innovations Brewer is to operate and maintain the R&D pilot brewery. 

Activities include: 

  • Conducting multiple brews per week to support commercial and R&D objectives
  • Monitoring and sampling ongoing fermentations
  • Cleaning and maintaining brewery equipment
  • Packaging samples to support commercial tasting opportunities
  • Participating in sensory analysis with our panel
  • Preventative maintenance on facility and equipment
  • Maintaining a tour-ready pilot brewery


Teamwork, process adherence, sanitation, and sterile/aseptic technique is critical in this role.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year professional experience brewing in a commercial brewery
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Computer proficiency: email, documents, spreadsheets, search engines
  • Excellent record keeping
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs repeatedly


Compensation and Benefits

  • $50,000-$70,000 per year (compensation commensurate with experience)
