Duties and Responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced and collaborative Head Brewer to lead brewing operations across our Santa Rosa and Windsor locations within a 50,000+ BBL production environment.

The Head Brewer will lead all brewhouse and cellar operations, develop and support the brewing team, and collaborate closely with Production, Packaging, Lab, Facilities, Maintenance, and ownership. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys being actively involved in the brewing process while building strong teams and supporting continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, train, develop, and work alongside Lead Brewers, Shift Brewers, and Assistant Brewers.
- Oversee brewhouse and cellar operations across all brewery locations.
- Ensure beer is produced according to RRBC’s quality, safety, sanitation, and process standards.
- Maintain a strong focus on microbiological cleanliness, low dissolved oxygen, fermentation performance, consistency, and batch yields.
- Partner with Production, Packaging, and Lab leadership to meet schedules, address quality trends, and coordinate beer readiness.
- Work with Facilities and Maintenance to support equipment reliability and preventive maintenance.
- Troubleshoot brewing, fermentation, equipment, and process issues.
- Maintain clear communication with ownership regarding quality, operations, process improvements, and potential recipe modifications.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement throughout the department.
- Maintain scheduling flexibility, including occasional nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage.

Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of commercial brewing experience, preferably in a high-volume production brewery.
- Minimum of three years of people management experience.
- Comprehensive, hands-on experience with ProLeiT Brewmaxx brewing automation software.
- Strong knowledge of brewhouse and cellar operations, fermentation science, yeast management, sanitation, and process control.
- Proven ability to lead teams, solve problems, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively across departments.
- Collaborative, positive, professional, and team-oriented leadership style.
- Bachelor’s degree in Brewing Science, Food Science, or a related field preferred. Equivalent professional experience will be considered.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
- Stand and/or sit for long periods of time
- Climb or balance; stoop, kneel, twist, bend, and crouch.
- Lift or carry up to 55 pounds and manipulate and/or move up to 155 pounds.
- Able to operate a motor vehicle/forklift.
The position requires working around brewing equipment, chemicals, cleaning agents, wet surfaces, elevated noise levels, and varying temperatures. Required PPE must be worn, and all safety procedures must be followed.
