BevNET Review: We've had energy colas before, but this is really the first one that could stand on its own as a straight up cola. That might not help the drink's marketability, but it is a sign of a well executed drink. Beyond the color flavor, there is a mild note of vitamin and energy flavors followed by a noticeable kick of caffeine (thanks to the "25% more caffeine"). Packaging is one of more unique designs that we've seen in recent times (the light tone retro style is nice), but it's a very busy one that makes the important elements, such as the 99 cents badge, get lost. Cleaning things up would certainly help. Overall, a great tasting drink with nice packaging.Reviewed on: 1/15/2008

BevNET Review: While they're not the first to name an energy drink after a monkey, Howling Monkey has done a bunch of interesting things that make the drink worthy of a try. First, there's a design that's literally like an old circus poster which features a prominent "99 cents" MSRP badge. The flavor is a tropical citrus style formulation that has a mild dose of vitamin and energy flavor to it. The energy formulation -- which promises "25% more caffeine" (than what?) -- is enhanced with quinine (although not visible on the nutritional panel), taurine, B vitamins, caffeine and more. Overall, it's a very pleasing product that has a definite kick to it. Definitely worth a try.Reviewed on: 1/15/2008
