BevNET Review: Pineapple Cream is the standout of the lineup. It’s certainly one of those sort of offbeat products, but it’s a flavor that’s actually quite addictive. While the pineapple flavor is somewhat candy-like, the addition of the “cream” flavor helps cut it, producing something that’s drinks like a tropical flavored cream soda. The uniqueness of the flavor is key, especially since consumers that are into the Jones brand aren’t too likely to be seeking products that taste like Coke or Pepsi. On that front, they’ve hit the nail on the head with this one of a kind, great tasting drink. On the outside, the look is exactly what we’d expect from Jones – slightly offbeat, but eye catching, with loads of personality throughout. Oh, and let’s not forget the Spanish labels, which certainly stand to help this brand reach additional consumers. Overall, the best of the lineup.Reviewed on: 6/18/2009

BevNET Review: Made with cane sugar, this product has a nice light mouth feel and a sweet candy like lime flavor. And that’s clearly what they were going for – just a refreshing, sweet, and easy to drink CSD. On that regard, they’ve executed the drink quite well. There’s a mild amount of carbonation to the product (at least as far as Jones Soda products go) and the product is reminiscent of the Jones’ original mid-1990’s lineup. Packaging is clean and easy to understand, with the bright green color helping to whet the palate. The Spanish label is a nice point of differentiation and their funky photos fit the motif perfectly. It’s hard to say how successful this campaign will be, but it’s nice to see Jones taking a crack at a different segment of the market – especially when the execution is on point. BevNET Review: The Mandarin Orange (or Naranja Mandarina) flavor of Jones’ Pure Cane Soda with Spanish labels is a very enjoyable tasting CSD. Like the other varieties, it is sweetened with sugar, which gives the product a light body that works well with the product’s rather high level of sweetness. The orange flavor is good, although we probably wouldn’t identify it as Mandarin orange. In any event, it’s an enjoyable tasting orange soda, with just the right amount of sweet and citrus to the mix. The drink’s modest level of carbonation makes it go down easy. On the outside, it’s the trademark Jones Soda long neck bottle complete with a black and white paper label and a colorful photo. It gives the product a touch of personality and flare, which is something that should make the product stand out amongst micro-CSDs. Spanish labels are a plus, but we don’t think that, on its own, will drive a lot of new consumers to this brand. However, if Jones can get behind it and make a push towards Spanish speaking consumers, this certainly seems like a SKU that should be part of the mix.Reviewed on: 6/18/2009

BevNET Review: What you’ve got here is a fruit punch flavored soda that’s sugar sweetened and has bright red coloring. Flavor-wise, the fruit punch flavor is actually rather mellow, despite the product have a somewhat high level of sweetness. When paired with the drink’s moderate level of carbonation, it all seems to work, resulting in something that’s very gulpable. However, the use of artificial flavors and preservatives seems somewhat counter to the drink’s “pure” cane sugar callout. Lastly, we wouldn’t mind a little less red coloring – it stains your mouth. However, that bright red liquid makes a nice complement to the black and white label, adding a bit of pop to the shelf presence of the product. The bilingual packaging is nice, but it seems like it could be incorporated into their main line rather than requiring its own line. Overall, an enjoyable product, but not the best of the bunch.Reviewed on: 6/18/2009
