Update Information for This Brand

Manufacturer's Brand Overview: [Edit]
Dr Pepper Snapple Group introduces Venom, an energy drink for those wanting to experience thrill seeking adventures. Available in Black Mamba, regular, and Mojave Rattler, low-carbohydrate/calorie, Venom provides the bite that hard-core energy drink fans demand. Venom?s 16.9 ounce re-sealable aluminum bottle allows consumers to enjoy the product during multiple occasions, unlike most energy drinks in cans. The Venom energy blend contains caffeine, l-carnitine, guarana, ginseng and taurine, the hard-core ingredients that consumers are looking for in their energy drink.

Black Mamba

Product Type:Functional: Energy Drink: Regular; Container: 16.9 ounce re-sealable aluminum bottle
BevNET Review: Black Mamba is a sugar and sucralose sweetened variety. The drink has a rather sweet flavor and 120 calories per serving (2 per 16.9 oz bottle) which is reminiscent of the "classic" energy drink flavor. There are notes of caffeine and sugar, which are followed by a berry style flavor. There's an interesting bite at the end of the drink, which appears to be the combination of caffeine, sucralose, and some sort of spiced flavor. All in all, it's an enjoyable flavor, although it borders on being too sweet. Packaging is a 16.9 oz aluminum bottle with a screw top, which offers the convenience of being resealable as well as the pleasing aesthetics of the aluminum bottle. Venom is a nice looking brand, especially on this bottle, but the "black mamba" name is confusing rather than cool or useful. We'd prefer something that speaks to what's inside the bottle. Overall, a decent mainstream entry.

Mojave Rattler

Product Type:Functional: Energy Drink: Regular; Container: 16.9 ounce re-sealable aluminum bottle
BevNET Review: Like its counterpart, Mojave Rattler uses a blend of glucose and sucralose, but this time they've reduced the artificial sweetener to create a "low-carb" formulation. The flavor is otherwise the same, with a berry style flavor that has a unique spiced note to the finish. On the other hand, there's a bit too much in the way of sucralose after effects, which could certainly be improved. Packaging is attractive, but cluttered, and certain front panel text elements could certainly be moved to the back. Furthermore, the use of the color purple along with the absence of a flavor name implies that the drink would be grape flavor, which it is not. Lastly, there's the name, Mojave Rattler, which seems like an unnecessary effort to reinforce the obvious snake theme of the drink. Overall, not as good as its counterpart.
