Immunity, energy and gut health were all over the show floor at Natural Products Expo West 2022, and especially within the coffee, kombucha and juice categories where innovations emphasized functionality and plant-based offerings. In this gallery of new products featured at the show last week, we highlight some of the show’s launches.
Health-Ade
Health-Ade sampled its latest kombucha flavor: Pineapple Creamsicle. Organic and Non-GMO certified, this sweet addition to the brand’s core line will be sold in 16 oz. bottles.
High Brew
Cold brew brand High Brew has added two flavored plant-based nitro lattes to its canned coffee line. Bourbon Vanilla and Toasted Coconut are both made with a blend of coconut and cashew milk and feature 125 mg of caffeine and 90 calories per 7 oz. can.
KeVita
KeVita has introduced a new Herbal Spritzer line of certified organic, sparkling probiotic drinks. The Harmony Peach Elderflower and Refresh Orange Sage flavors each contain Vitamin C and 15 calories per 15.2 oz. bottle and Serene Chamomile Lavender includes 80 mg of magnesium and 20 calories per bottle. The brand also showcased a new sparkling probiotic lemonade line at Expo West available in Classic, Blackberry and Peach varieties.
KOR
Juice shots producer KOR introduced two new immunity-boosting SKUs at Expo West: Elderberry Defense, containing zinc, and Wellness Fire, made with jalapeno and ginger. The 1.7 oz., certified organic shots are available now.
LIFEAID
Billing itself as “Energy 3.0” – a clean label alternative to leading performance energy brands – LIFEAID announced its three-SKU line of FitAID energy drinks. Available in Peach Mandarin, Mango Sorbet and Blackberry Pineapple flavors, each 12 oz. can contains 15 calories, 200mg of caffeine, branch-chain amino acids (BCAAs), turmeric, B vitamins and quercetin among other functional ingredients.
Oaza
Functional coffee producer Oaza debuted a rebranded line of 7.5 oz. canned coffees with electrolytes. The new formulations add L-theanine to provide a more balanced buzz that evens out the 200 mg of caffeine per can. With zero grams of sugar, the line is available in Black, Cacao Mocha and Oat Milk varieties.
RISE Brewing Co.
RISE Brewing Co. was a pioneer of nitrogen-infused canned cold brew coffee when it was founded in 2015. Now the company is leading the way into infused shots with its latest product, the Nitro Shot. Expected to retail for $2-$3 when it launches later this year, the 0.67 oz. bottle contains cold brew concentrate that when mixed with water makes a foamy, nitro cold brew complete with a cascade effect.
Sofresco
Sofresco has introduced a new Energy shot with green coffee and Vitamin B12 in a 3.7 oz. bottle.
Suja
Suja is continuing to innovate in the cold-pressed juice space with an update to its sparkling line, Elements. With a label callout promoting immune health and biome health, Elements is made with probiotics, prebiotics, adaptogens, Vitamins C and D, and zinc. The line comes in Strawberry Passionfruit, Pineapple Orange and a new soda-inspired Nature’s Cola flavor in 12 oz. bottles.
Taika
Don’t lose that number – California-based functional beverage brand Taika unveiled its rebranded line of coffees and matcha lattes at the show. The new cans move the attention-grabbing phone number from the front of the label to the side, while making the brand name and flavors more prominent at the top of the 8 oz. can (downsized from 9.5 oz. in the previous version). As well, the brand introduced a new and, according to CEO Michael Sharon, highly requested flavor: Mocha Latte, made with macadamia milk and adaptogens.
Verve Coffee Roasters
California-based Verve Coffee Roasters launched new plant-based oatmilk lattes to its ready-to-drink Flash Brew canned coffee line. Available in Chocolate, Honey Lavender and “The Original” flavors, each 8 oz. can is made using a Japanese flash-brewing style process where coffee is brewed hot and immediately chilled over ice.
