Daily Greens: Balance

Thanks to the use of vanilla, which is pretty hard to miss when you taste the product, the Balance variety of Daily Greens has the most unique flavor of the three chia-enhanced products. That’s not to say that the vanilla is overpowering, but rather that it’s a unique flavor that isn’t often found in green juice. It goes quite nicely with the other ingredients, which include pear, zucchini, spinach, cilantro, lime and ground chia seeds (all of which are organic). It’s a pretty mellow-tasting product, with the flavor skewing just a tad bit more towards sweet than that of the greens. That being said, this formulation could certainly have very broad appeal. The addition of chia gives it some marketable differentiation from other juice lines, while also adding some chew to the product. We will say, however, that no matter how hard we shook the product, the chia always remained towards the bottom. We’re not sure if consumers will mind this or not. For the branding of this product, it largely follows the format of the other Daily Greens flavors. There’s a flavor name along the bottom and an ingredient list that’s front and center on the label alongside the USDA Organic seal. Daily Greens has done a nice job of placing all of the important stuff right in the middle of the label. The “chia” callout is somewhat subtle, which might make it easy to miss, but we do like how the chia varieties fit in with the rest of the line without negatively affecting the overall look of the brand. Overall, this is a very well-executed product that offers innovative flavor.
