Banjo’s Cold Brew Coffee, which is made in Decatur, Ga., is a ready-to-drink, cold-brewed coffee that is made with “specialty grade beans.” Packaged in a 32 oz. apothecary-style glass bottle (there are also smaller sizes available), this product definitely looks the part of the cold-brew coffee segment. As for what’s inside the bottle, it tastes the part as well. This product, which is ready to drink as opposed to concentrate, is, for better or worse, a somewhat standard tasting cold-brew coffee. While we found it enjoyable to drink, we can’t imagine seeking this product out either. That being said, it’s biggest opportunity is most likely with local buyers. If it’s something broader that the company is after, we think that it will need to do something to make this product stand out. We’d say the same for the packaging. Right now, what it has created says small batch and local, but it doesn’t really stand out or have meaningful differentiation from the other products out there. That’s not to say that what Banjo had created is bad in any way (it isn’t). But there might be a bigger opportunity for the product if the company can really establish a brand.
