BevNET Review

Cottonmouth’s formulation is one of the more unique that we’ve seen as of late, with ingredients that include ginseng, astragalus, cordyceps mushroom, momordica fruit, chrysanthemum flower, ginkgo, schizandra berry, asparagus tuber, and citrus peel. The product is sweet (it uses sugar) and has a noticeable ginseng like flavor to it. Otherwise, there is a vegetable note to it and a citrus finish. All in all, we feel the same way about this flavor as we do the classic energy drink flavor -- it’s tolerable, but not exactly enjoyable, and it definitely tastes like something that should have functionality to it. The packaging and positioning are where this drink falls apart, with an unappealing name (a cotton mouth is a type of snake, but more commonly known as a way to describe having a dry mouth) and an inexplicable Asian theme. Ultimately, we do not think that this product’s package is nearly good enough to stand out from the competition. Overall, decent taste, but the brand needs to be reworked.
