Review: Beet (2014)
(Last Updated: Feb 28, 2019 at 2:00 PM)
With kombucha and beets each known for having assertive flavor profiles, we were honestly a little uncertain as to what we’d find inside this bottle. The liquid, which is a bright purplish color, is surprisingly smooth and balanced. The base kombucha flavor is the same as you’ll find in the other Health-Ade products, which is lightly sweet and effervescent. The beets add an earthy sweetness and subtle vegetal flavor. Combine the two results in a product that has more depth of flavor than an unflavored kombucha. However, unlike some fruit flavors that mask the underlying fermented flavor, the beet juice doesn’t. We appreciate that it stays true to its core while also delivering a taste that’s different than a typical kombucha flavor. On the outside, the product is in the same 16 oz. amber glass bottle as the rest of the line. However, it’s among the first flavors to use Health-Ade's new label design, which is cleaner and has more visual pop than their original format. The company has done a nice job of making the product approachable and intuitive, while also enhancing the overall look of the brand. Overall, this is a very enjoyable tasting and great-looking addition to the Health-Ade line.
