LIVE Kombucha: Living Limon (2014)

Compared with the Cola variety of Live Soda that we initially sampled, the Living Limon flavor is definitely a lot closer to what we would like to see from a product like this. Specifically, we think the pairing of lemon lime soda and kombucha is believable and more credible as a “healthy” product than a cola flavor. Plus, the flavor of this product is spot on, with a very pleasant tasting lemon lime soda and a slight kombucha finish. Despite having only 60 calories (thanks to added stevia), there’s a decent amount of sweetness to this product. Fortunately, the fermented flavor of the kombucha completely masks the stevia, leaving only a light vinegar like flavor at the finish. In terms of packaging, we like what the company has created -- it’s clean, simple, and visually appealing. And it’s definitely approachable for a mainstream consumer, which is more than we can say about most kombucha products. If anything is missing from the label, it’s some sort of easy indication about the taste of the product. Is this going to taste like kombucha or soda? However, once people try it, we think that they’ll be pleasantly surprised with what’s inside the bottle. Overall, a job well done by Live Soda.
