BevNET Review

Formerly known as “Citrus Cayenne,” this flavor is now known as “Grapefruit Cayenne.” Gone from the ingredient list is cayenne pepper (capsaicin is still listed), but the heat is certainly all there. The product uses pear, lemon and grapefruit juices, which gives it a nice citrus flavor to help complement the otherwise spicy flavor. Fortunately, cutting it to a 10 oz. bottle makes it a bit easier to put down, but if you don’t like heat, it’s still going to be too much. But for what it is, which is a product with a pretty targeted niche (people who like spicy non-alcoholic beverages), the execution is quite good, and we like the yin and yang style flavor. However, there’s something about the new branding that feels like a step backwards from the cleaner and more modern look of the original packaging. Some of this has to do with the application of the sleeve wrap label, which, in our test bottles, wasn’t always applied perfectly. Finally, we wonder why this product has so many varieties -- three or four flavors seems sufficient.
