Sugarcane Island: Raw Sugarcane Juice

Sugarcane Island’s Raw Sugarcane Juice is a cold-pressed HPP beverage that’s made with one ingredient: sugarcane juice. Flavor-wise, it’s very sweet and sugary with the only difference between this and straight up sugar water being the slightly earthy note that you get from unrefined sugar. Still, it’s not enough to make us want to drink a whole bottle -- and neither does the fact that it has 45g of sugar and almost 300 calories per bottle. The product is also loaded with fiber (13g) and contains potassium and protein. However, these don’t seem like compelling enough reasons to look past the sugar content and overly sweet flavor. The branding and design doesn’t really help matters. With all of the concerns over sugar content in beverages, we think the branding, which is all about sugar, is too in your face to have strong pull with consumers. Overall, it’s certainly an innovative product, but we feel that even changes to the branding wouldn’t make us want to consume this product over one of the company's flavored offerings.
