Riff Launches Artisanal Cold Brew Coffee Line

BEND, Ore. — Riff Cold Brewed Coffee, co-founded by veterans of the craft beverage and coffee space, announces the release of its inaugural Ready-To-Drink (RTD) lineup of four artisanal coffee varieties, available throughout Oregon in 10.5oz bottles and on draft in 20L kegs.

“We’re setting the bar extremely high with everything we’re doing, which makes for a fun challenge,” said Nate Armbrust, Co-Founder and Director of Brewing and Innovation at Riff. “My plan from the beginning has been to come out of the gate absolutely nailing black coffee, without any added ingredients. Coffee already provides so much in range and depth of wonderful flavors without any help.”

Riff is proud to partner with Portland, Oregon’s newly-formed Thornton Family Coffee Roasters inthe coffee selection, blending and roasting for each of the four varieties.

“Riff wanted to, not only hit, but accentuate, some very specific notes such as blueberry, toffee and stone fruit, independent of source,” said Paul Thornton, Founder and Roastmaster of Thornton Family Coffee Roasters and past president of the Specialty Coffee Association. “It required a massive amount of research and trial. I’m thrilled with the results; each of these coffees blows my mind in its own unique way.”

Each of Riff’s four cold brewed coffee varieties is made with only two ingredients— fine artisanal coffee and fresh Cascade Mountain water. To hear the backstory behind each, check out our series of short and fun videos on our website.

Off The Cuff

Artisanal Black Coffee with Notes of Dark Chocolate & Toffee

It’s that shiver up your spine when you create something out of thin air. Like a perfectly landed leap of faith, or when “maybe” turns into “wow, that totally worked.” This cold brewed coffee rolls from notes of caramel to chocolate to graham cracker -all in a bottle. Because going with the flow is exactly what it needed.

Paint The Town

Artisanal Black Coffee with Notes of Bing Cherry & Blueberries

Try expecting…nothing at all. And by nothing, we mean anything. Let your hair down, ignite the dance floor – load your brain with “yes” after tossing out all those “no’s.” Because when a cold brewed coffee picks up cherry, blueberry and golden raisin notes – anything can happen. Cut loose, because this town is asking for it.

Arm In Arm

Artisanal Black Coffee with Notes of Red Berry & Stonefruit

Naturally sweet and subtly bright met in a bottle, and the rest is history…well, there’s more. We’re talking about palate harmony, with those “meant to be” flavors and the unwavering satisfaction of something that just clicks. A dance between apricot, peach and raspberry – arm in arm because they can. And if they can, they sure as heck will.

Southpaw

Artisanal Black Coffee with Notes of Cocoa Nibs & Nougat, and half the caffeine

The liberating satisfaction of shaking things up. Like breakfast for dinner, going out on aMonday, or leaving your house with (dare we say) no phone. Yeah, you heard that right. We identified the grain, and went directly against it with a smooth-tasting cold brewed coffee with cocoa notes and, wait for it… half the caffeine. Things will never be the same.

“I’m supercharged by the feedback we’re getting from the trade and the public so far— it’s beyond what I expected,” said Paul Evers, Riff Co-Founder and CEO. “And with this team’s history and appetite for shaking things up and challenging the status quo, we cannot wait to share what’s on the horizon!”

About Riff Cold Brewed Coffee

Riff is Paul Evers, co-founder of Crux Fermentation Project;Nate Armbrust, former head of product development and cold brew operations at Stumptown; Steve Barham, former senior director at LinkedIn; and Bobby Evers and Kevin Smyth, both with deep experience in craft beer branding and operations. And Riff is so much more— an enthusiastic and diverse tribe of investors, employees, partners, and you.

When we riff on an idea, we start with a question: What if? What if we brewed coffee cold, for a sweeter, smoother flavor? What if we poured it on tap? Into a glass, not a mug? What if we met for coffee in the evening? With friends, and maybe—gasp—without wifi? What if it weren’t sacrilegious to drink our coffee decaffeinated, spiced, fruited, or even barrel fermented with wild yeast? Now we’re talking. Let’s Riff!
