BevNET Live attendees will be treated to two just-added, high-profile discussions during the event’s second day, Wednesday, June 15. One talk will provide insights into growth opportunities within one of the world’s largest Foodservice retailers, and then the next discussion will compare the partnership strategies of three leading beverage giants during a special panel discussion.
Renny Wilmer, Senior Director of Consumer Engagement at Compass Group USA will discuss the evolving priorities at the organization, which supplies food and beverage services to some of the country’s largest offices, universities, arenas, hospitals, museums and other entities. With a sprawling footprint that covers everything from vending and catering to on-site restaurants and snack bars, Compass’ client base offers thousands of opportunities for beverage companies to introduce products to potential consumers — and to do so on a repeat basis if the fit is there.
Wilmer, who has developed and led the beverage retailing and marketing strategies across Compass’ foodservice and vending properties and now directs its overall consumer engagement strategies, will discuss the trends in eating and drinking that are affecting his consumers and the openings that those changes may create for beverage entrepreneurs in environments ranging from grab-and-go to fine dining and catering. The discussion will evaluate the best potential foodservice strategies for growing brands, as well as offer advice on pitching and succeeding within the Compass environment.
After Wilmer’s talk, representatives of three of the world’s largest strategic beverage concerns, the Coca-Cola Co., Nestle Waters North America, and White Wave, along with investment advisor Whipstitch Capital, will take the stage to compare and contrast their views on investment, innovation, and what the future might hold in terms of relationships between entrepreneurs and larger entities.
Joining the panel will be:
- Michael Burgmaier, Managing Director, Whipstitch Capital
- Matthew Mitchell, VP of Portfolio Strategy and Ventures, Venturing & Emerging Brands (VEB) Group at Coca-Cola Co.
- Rajesh Babu, Director, Corporate Development & Strategy at WhiteWave Foods Company
- Kevin Benmoussa, Business Development Director at Nestle Waters North America
With an increasing number of large entities looking to the ranks of entrepreneurs as part of their innovation strategy — via partial investments, straight acquisitions, distribution deals and even talent development and mentoring arrangements — the strategic space is becoming more active and more complex. For entrepreneurs, knowledge of that space is of tremendous importance as they seek to grow and thrive.
