Seattle, Wash. (May 8, 2025) – Since
2012, Batch 206 Vodka and Counter Gin have been hand crafted in small batches
and enjoyed by spirits enthusiasts and craft cocktail creators throughout
Washington State. As part of the company’s evolution to Old Log Cabin Distillery, the team
partnered with renowned local artist Shogo Ota and Mukilteo
WA-based,
Advanced
Labels NW
to label the spirits in a uniquely Northwest combination of distinctive
artistry and emerging technology. The
innovative printing technique uses artificial intelligence which allows for
hyper-detailed textures and visuals, and infinite possibilities for creating
unique labels to ensure that no two bottles are the same.
“When we set out to create new labels for Batch 206 Vodka and Counter Gin, we wanted to celebrate our home in the Pacific Northwest, specifically the surrounding landscape for the botanicals in our gin and the Puget Sound for the clean, clear nature of our vodka,” said Ben Capdevielle, Distiller, Old Log Cabin Distillery. “Our friendship with Shogo Ota and our partnership with Advanced Labels made these singular and collectible new bottles possible and we are thrilled to share them with design and spirits enthusiasts.”
Distinctive Northwest Artwork by Shogo Ota
Both new labels complement each other with lively and colorful illustrations created by noted Northwest artist, Shogo Ota. When paired together, they are a living visual narrative of the region’s local culture and scenery. The Batch 206 Vodka label focuses on the vibrant ecosystem found above and below the surface of Puget Sound, with charming images of native salmon, Orca whales, seals, and other aquatic life, including an octopus holding a tiny martini glass. The Counter Gin label salutes the rich diversity of plants and animals in the region, as well as Seattle icons like the Space Needle, ferries, the Monorail and even the historic Kingdome.
Shogo Ota is known for his versatile style and his work has been featured on expansive public murals, Seattle Kraken hockey jerseys, Starbucks packaging and most recently, his artwork was selected for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Seattle host city poster. Shogo Ota’s design studio, Tireman Studio is located on an island in Puget Sound.
"The Old Log Cabin team and I worked together to come up with the land and water themes for the new gin and vodka labels and I was inspired by a lot of beautiful nature and animals in the Pacific Northwest. The important part was figuring out how I could include many sea creatures and animals with good balance, layout and exciting vibe,” said Shogo Ota. “Both the gin and vodka make great drinks at home and local bars, but I am also hoping that people from other states or countries see them as great souvenirs or gifts to bring home from Seattle. There are a lot of stories on the labels, so it will be amazing if the people create some new stories with them.”
Artificial Intelligence Enables Unique and Collectible Art
Advanced Labels NW and Labels West took Shogo Ota’s illustrations and applied a trio of advanced AI techniques to bring depth, interactivity, and texture to the label. A variable design process means each bottle features a different section of the original artwork when viewed from the back of the bottle—inviting consumers to find a favorite, whether it’s an otter, a skyline, or a hidden detail tied to the Pacific Northwest. Two-sided printing extends the imagery into the bottle itself, creating layered visuals and a dimensional screen finish which adds tactile interest, highlighting key elements while maintaining the integrity of the art.
“Advanced Labels NW is proud to have partnered with Old Log Cabin Distillery on labels that are as compelling as the story behind them,” said Jenny Odell, Sales NW Region, Advanced Labels NW. “With artist Shogo Ota’s detailed illustrations leading the creative direction, our teams got to work translating the vision into print. Every element was thoughtfully engineered to reflect the brand’s authenticity while standing out in a crowded spirits aisle. The result are labels that not only capture attention on a shelf but also tell a Pacific Northwest story.”
Classic Seattle Craft Spirits
Batch 206 Vodka and Counter Gin are hand-crafted in Seattle in small batches on a handmade 1,000-liter Kothe still and are some of the Northwest’s best-selling artisan spirits.
- Batch 206 Vodka: Distilled from corn and carbon filtered for 3 days, Batch 206 Vodka is Seattle’s original craft vodka. Produced for more than a decade this crystal-clear spirit retains hints of honey and mountain air on the nose. It charms with subtle honeysuckle and white pepper on the palate with a smooth, velvety texture. The finish is as clean as they come. Perfect for vodka cocktails or sipping chilled neat or on the rocks.
- Counter Gin: Produced since 2009, this “New American” gin is a shining example of botanical harmony. Juniper and fresh cucumbers take the lead with lemon and orange peel, tarragon, verbena and lavender delighting the senses and tickling the tastebuds. Old time ginners and beginners alike will enjoy this expression of the queen of cocktails in a negroni or with tonic.
