SANTA ROSA, CA (August 26, 2025) – As the holidays approach, Loch Lomond – a classic Highlands distillery known for its flavor innovation in the scotch whisky category and proprietary use of straight neck pot stills – is ramping up its renewed focus in the U.S. with the reintroduction of Loch Lomond 18-Year-Old. An exceptional gift for any whisky lover, this approachable 18-Year-Old is available at fine retailers nationwide and online. In partnership with Foley Family Wines & Spirits, Loch Lomond 18-Year-Old has an SRP of $159.99 for a 750ml bottle.
Named 2024 Scotch Whisky Producer of the Year by the International Wine & Spirits Competition, Loch Lomond’s approach to flavor creation sets this Scotch Whisky brand apart – guided by the expertise of renowned Master Blender Michael Henry. Under Henry’s careful supervision, Loch Lomond has established itself as one of the most adept and capable distilleries in Scotland – showcasing the combined impacts of extra-long fermentation periods, carefully selected yeast strains, innovative distillation methods, and closely monitored maturation. By pinpointing these four critical elements of the production process, Loch Lomond’s signature style of orchard fruit, honey sweetness, and soft smoke was created.
Crafted in the shadow of Ben Lomond Mountain using traditional swan neck stills alongside pioneering straight neck pot stills – each fitted with 32 copper plates – Loch Lomond precisely controls the spirit distillation, enabling the creation of vibrant orchard and tropical fruit flavors. The whisky’s rich honeyed sweetness, baked apple and rich toffee with gentle wood smoke is carefully developed through maturation exclusively in three types of American oak casks, thoughtfully balancing first-fill, refill, and re-charred barrels. Further distinguishing itself, Loch Lomond is one of only four distilleries in Scotland with an on-site cooperage, employing 10 qualified coopers, who work on approximately 22 casks per day.
Whisky connoisseurs will notice a presence of soft smoke in Loch Lomond 18-Year-Old reflecting the modest amount of peated whisky produced annually by the distillery, which averages around five percent. Here, this gentle smokiness is used as a subtle seasoning, complementing and enhancing, rather than overpowering the whisky’s core fruity and honeyed notes. This expression is a true representation of Loch Lomond’s recognized characteristics of precision, clarity and complexity.
On the nose, the whisky fuses green apple and grapefruit aromas before a bouquet of honeysuckle and mature oak character come through. The palate delivers elegant wood notes of toasted oak and cigar box before surprising the drinker with a waft of green fruits, such as apple and gooseberry. The finish is long with dried tea and tobacco leaf combined with peatiness and wood smoke.
