AQUAhydrate is fortifying its distribution network on its home turf with the addition of two major Southern California beverage distributors. In a press release issued today, the alkaline water brand backed by Mark Wahlberg and Sean “Diddy” Combs announced new distribution agreements with regional heavyweight Haralambos Beverage Co. and John Lenore & Co.
AQUAhydrate CEO Hal Kravitz discussed his brand’s new partnerships in a call with BevNET, revealing that he reconnected with Haralambos president Tony Haralambos and John Lenore & Co.’s vice president of sales Sean Nichols – both of whom Kravitz knew from his time as president of Glaceau – at the 2015 Natural Products Expo West trade show.
After several months of discussions, Haralambos begun carrying AQUAhydrate throughout the Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and San Bernardino counties at the top of November, taking on territories previously covered by Statewide Beverage Company. AQUAhydrate joins a number of other premium water brands, including CORE, Essentia, VOSS, and Perrier, among others, on Haralambos’ trucks, but Kravitz says he’s not concerned about AQUAhydrate being able to thrive alongside the distributors’ robust portfolio of premium bottled water brands.
“[Tony] really believes in owning this premium water space and I’m all for it,” Kravitz said. “I know [AQUAhydrate] will do great next to all of the other premium waters. If it’s competitively priced, competitively spaced, I know we’ll win.”
Meanwhile John Lenore & Co. will cover San Diego County. Several Anheuser-Busch distributors, including Straub Distributing (of Orange County), Heimark (Palm Springs) and Triangle Distributing will continue to service AQUAhydrate throughout their respective territories.
BevNET caught up with Kravitz during last month’s National Association of Convenience Stores trade show in Las Vegas, where he emphasized how the brand would be able to ramp up its marketing efforts (particularly those from its high-profile celebrity owners) as the brand strengthens its retail footprint.
