Root Beer

Product Type:Carbonated Soft Drink: Regular; Container: 12.7 oz Glass
BevNET Review: Bundaberg’s Root Beer is one of their two flavors that comes packaged in a proprietary 12.7 oz. glass bottle. The package alone makes this product worth a try, with its squat shape and unique pull tab top giving it a visual appearance that’s very unique and appealing. The root beer that’s inside the bottle is quite good and enjoyable, although it’s comparable to a many other root beers on the market today. That said, we suspect that the packaging is ultimately what will make consumers reach for this product again. Overall, a solid effort from Bundaberg.Reviewed on: 2/8/2012

Ginger Beer

Product Type:Carbonated Soft Drink: Regular; Container: 12.7 oz Glass
BevNET Review: The flagship flavor of the Bundaberg brand, Ginger Beer is a very well executed product, both in terms of flavor and packaging. The bottle immediately catches the eye, with its squat 12.7 oz.e brown glass demonstrating about the same dimensions as a 12 oz. can. The pull tab cap adds to the charm, with the product ultimately feeling like something that’s high quality and exotic. Inside the bottle, you’ve got a very nice ginger beer with medium heat. The use of premium ingredients (including cane sugar) definitely makes a difference, with the product having a smooth flavor from start to finish. Perhaps our only question about this product is the viability of producing it in Australia for sale in the US (the added freight can’t help margins). Regardless, this is a top notch ginger beer.Reviewed on: 2/8/2012

Diet Ginger Beer

Product Type:Carbonated Soft Drink: Diet; Container: 11.5 oz Glass
BevNET Review: Using a blend of sugar, aspartame, ace-k, and sucralose, Bundaberg has taken a unique approach to formulating their low calorie offering. Fortunately, it works quite well, with a 25 calorie (and 5g of sugar) formulation that has a moderate amount of sweetness and only a tiny amount of aftertaste. That’s quite an accomplishment, with many other diet ginger beer/ale that we’ve sampled having a pretty harsh aftertaste. The packaging, which is an 11.5. oz. glass bottle, is good, but definitely a bit of a let down compared to their proprietary 12.7 oz. bottle used for the root beer and ginger beer flavors. The label, which is all about Australia, is a good effort to create a classic looking soda label. If there’s anything we’d say about the label, it’s just nit picking -- the word “diet” should be next to “ginger beer.” Overall, a good product from Bundaberg.Reviewed on: 2/8/2012

Blood Orange

Product Type:Carbonated Soft Drink: Regular; Container: 11.5 oz Glass
BevNET Review: The rest of the Bundaberg lineup is comprised of fruit flavored offerings, all of which contain five or six percent fruit juice. While we definitely appreciate their effort in using quality ingredients, the Blood Orange seems like the flavor with the most potential. The reason being that this is the flavor that most closely resembles a standard CSD , which is ultimately what we think consumers will buy (the Lemon Lime & Bitters is a close second). As for this product, it has a nice tasting orange flavor, which, thanks to the added blood orange juice, actually tastes like fruit rather than flavoring. The blood orange flavor helps the product taste sophisticated and refreshing, while a heavy dose of sugar gives the product a high level of sweetness. On the outside, the 11.65 oz. clear glass bottle seems like a good fit, with the consumer able to see the natural looking color of the liquid through the bottle. The label and branding incorporate Australia quite a bit, with both an image of a kangaroo and a “Made in Australia” badge along the bottom of the front panel. We also appreciate the resealable top, which allows you to take your time in consuming this product. Our only concern about this product is that its being shipped to the US from Australia, which is something that will impact either cost or margin (or both) for the product. Overall, Bundaberg Blood Orange is a refreshing and enjoyable twist on a classic soda flavor.Reviewed on: 2/8/2012
