Black Tea + Pomegranate + Mangosteen

Product Type:Functional: Energy Drink: Regular; Container: 15.5 fl oz (460ml) can
BevNET Review: The pomegranate, mangosteen, and black tea flavors in this drink are good, but not great, giving the product a somewhat unpolished taste. Honestly, the flavor profile of this product resembles an RTD tea rather than an energy product. There’s really nothing in the way of “energy” when it comes to the flavor – or ingredients -- which may lead consumers to treat this as a tea rather than an energy drink. Plus, there’s a rather unpleasant, tart flavor that’s left behind. The packaging is OK, but feels like a rookie effort, with a generic feeling Asian style to the design. We’d suggest reducing the amount of text on the can (almost every square inch is covered) and trying to clean things up a bit. Not bad for a tea, but not good for an energy drink.

Green Tea + Ginseng + Acai

Product Type:Functional: Energy Drink: Regular; Container: 15.5 fl oz (460ml) can
BevNET Review: This variety features a much lighter body than its counterpart, which is likely due to the simple fact that green tea is lighter than black. It’s flavored with ginseng and acai, but we really can’t taste anything beyond tea, sugar, and a dash of honey. The flavor is moderately enjoyable, tasting on par with the likes of AriZona’s canned iced teas. The can isn’t much to look at, especially compared to other tea products, which traditionally use glass packaging. It’s also hard to swallow this product being an energy drink, especially when it features ingredients that are often seen in herbal teas. Nevertheless, Max Green Tea is an enjoyable product -- we just question the positioning of it. The concept certainly has potential and we believe that some packaging cleanup and a bit more substance to the body (for taste and energy) would help it a great deal.
