Finest Kind...

Light, sweet, and dry... with a peppery ginger finish. The only Ginger Ale good enough to mix with a quality Bourbon... but i like it better just so. Every time I go back to Virginia I pick up at least a case....thank goodness it is still in production

As good as it gets!

Having lived in the Northern Neck for decades, I got used to the great taste of NNGA. Moving south, I had to "settle" for other brands until a local gourmet store began stocking it. Needles to say, they can't keep it in stock. When I get back to that area, I always buy 2-3 cases to bring back.

I miss NN ginger ale!
5 stars5 stars5 stars5 stars5 stars

I lived in the Northern Neck for years, and my dad turned me onto this. You haven't had real ginger ale until you've had NN ginger ale. It's so spicy and gingery, it *almost* burns going down (but in a good way, I promise!!) I haven't had it in probably 10 year, and yesterday, our fountain guy at work installed Fanta in the soda fountain, and that reminded me. People were so happy to have something other than Coke, Diet coke, etc., they were raving about it. Fanta is GARBAGE!!!! I just ordered a case of NN ginger ale and i'm going to share it with a select few here at the office. I can't wait!! (I live in Atlanta, by the way--that's why I had to order it.) If anyone's interested, it's $12 per case (as of today--04/17/09) and including shipping, my total came to $23 something. It's well worth it!

Good Stuff

Northern Neck ginger ale is really, really good stuff. I'm "lucky" to be able to drive the two and half hours from Washington DC to buy it by the case at the Montross, VA Food Lion. If you don't live in the "northern neck" of Virginia -- or you're not willing to drive or wait a few weeks to have a case shipped to you -- good luck finding it! Now, here's the potentially bad news. Northern Neck was bought out by Coca-Cola a few years ago. There are times (especially after downing a Vernor's or one of those spicy Jamaican brews) when I wonder if they've already toned down the gingery flavor a bit. Or are my tastebuds just getting old? I have a good friend in Montross who can probably ferret out the truth; I'll ask her to snoop around and report back.

Northern Neck GA ROCKS
5 stars5 stars5 stars5 stars5 stars

I discovered Northern Neck GA about eight years ago. This is the way GA should taste and is comparable to Vernor's brand. Clean crisp taste, fragerant bouquet of ginger, with a slight bite. Refreshing in its own right, just like fresca is in the citrus beverage genre. Alas, Since moving to PA, from Richmond, I do not have access to Northern Neck in these parts. On my next visit to VA, I will be stocking up to bring back.

Northen Neck Ginger Ale - gourmet taste at a mass market price

Yes, Virginia, it's GINGER ale. Almost none of the soda pops with that name actually deserve the name. I first tried this product while camping at a state park next to the Chesapeake Bay town of Montross from where this product originated, and where it is still manufactured (thanks to Coca-Cola for not messing up a good product and a local tradition after they bought the company). This ginger ale compares well in taste to any of the upscale, $2 a bottle competitors. Its simple packaging is perhaps misleading of its high quality. The only drawback of this product is that I don't believe it is carried in stores much farther than Richmond, although you can have it shipped directly to you via http://www.northernneckgingerale.com/.

Not as good as Carver's

I believe the same company makes both products. But Carver's has a refreshing "clean" taste to it. Carver's uses pure cane sugar, Northern neck uses High Fructose Corn syrup, I think that may be the BIG diference!

the best ginger ale

As one of the former owners of Sailor's Ginger Delight, I am partial to ginger beverages and know that having real ginger makes all the difference. I am from Virginia where this drink is popular in the eastern part of the state. I can't get enough of it. I drink the diet in the can like it's water. What's interesting is that it holds it's carbonation so well. I can open a can at 10pm, take a few sips, and it still has carbonation that next day when I get home at 6pm. Sailor's Ginger Delight is no longer in production, but as you can see from it's review is an excellent product. My former partner still has the formula and name registered, and it is still for sale. If anyone is interested in bidding on the Sailors Beverage Co., please email me at greg.jones@erac.com
