BevNET Review: Fierce Caramel feature's Marvel's Wolverine character. In line with the Wolverine's special ability to heal himself, Fierce Caramel's label says "Healing...Help your immune system with antioxidants, vitamins A&E and green tea extract". This milkshake has a strong caramel/butterscotch flavor, and a thick consistency. Unlike some of the other flavors in the line, this one perfectly masks the flavor of its full compliment of vitamins. From a commercial standpoint, caramel is not as well known of a flavor among kids nor is it typically associated with milkshakes. As a result, Fierce Caramel will likely be the least popular of the five drinks in the Slammer line.Reviewed on: 9/16/2004

BevNET Review: Chocolate Web features Marvel’s Spiderman character and contains vitamin E, omega 3 fatty acids, and choline. The beverage itself has a slightly thick consistency and is very sweet. It's a straight up chocolate flavor that will likely be too strong for anyone other than a child, though admittedly that is the target consumer for this product. This beverage will benefit from Spiderman’s huge popularity among children. In addition, chocolate flavor is always a safe bet with dairy-based beverages.Reviewed on: 9/13/2004

BevNET Review: Cookies & Green features the Incredible Hulk and an array of nutrients designed to provide strength. Its label reads, "Power.....Tap your inner strength with a boost of B complex vitamins". The drink’s color takes after its green super-hero and boy is it green! Its hue is a deeper and darker than the spirulina shake; pretty impressive considering its dairy base. The flavor is a "cookies and cream" which very much resembles Slammer's Red, White and BLUE Vanilla but with a hint of cocoa. Like other drinks in the line, it has a rather noticeable "vitamin" taste. While most adults wouldn’t have the nerve to try this strange brew, Cookies & Green should be hugely appealing to young boys, the obvious target demographic for this beverage. The nutritional proposition for those youngsters is a mixed bag. The drink is very heavy in vitamins, but also high in fats. Based on a 2000 calorie diet, an entire bottle of Cookies & Green provides 24% the Recommended Daily Intake of fat. Ultimately, Cookies & Green is, like the rest of this brand, not to be judged on its appeal to adults nor so much on its nutritional value. BevNET Review: Dark Strawberry is the only Slammers drink to feature two Marvel Comic characters, Daredevil and Electra. The drink's nutritional theme is "Perception", and its label reads, "Heighten all your senses with natural vitamin E, Lycopene, and ginseng." This milkshake has a light strawberry flavor to it and almost manages to mask the flavor of its supplemented vitamins. Of the five drinks in the line, this is the only one that will have serious appeal to girls (the others feature masculine characters: Captain America, Hulk, Wolverine and Spiderman). Unfortunately, Daredevil and Electra are not among Marvel's more popular characters. Therefore, Slammers should hope that the popularity of the strawberry flavor will carry its sales. BevNET Review: Red, White & BLUE VANILLA is a drink made for children. Packaged in a 16 oz plastic bottle with a label featuring Marvel's Captain America, it is a bright blue-colored vanilla shake. Like a good milkshake, the product has a very fatty, thick consistency. It is exceedingly sweet. The least appealing aspect of its flavor is the rather noticable vitamin flavor to the beverage. This would be the one thing that might not appeal to the children that are the obvious target consumer for the product. Nevertheless, we commend Slammer's for enhancing the nutritional quality of the beverage. The drinks contains (among other things) a full compliment of B vitamins, as well as vitamins A, D, and E. Though this drink was not a favorite among our testers, we readily admit that this beverage will be far more appealing to children. And it's nutritional qualities will make it all the more likely that parents will purchase this for their kids.Reviewed on: 9/13/2004
