Vibranz

Manufacturer's Brand Overview [Edit]

Kombucha Tea is a raw, organic, probiotic beverage. Probiotics help to restore healthy bacteria to the stomach and aid in digestion. Metabolic balancing and detoxification are the most important functions of Kombucha. When the human metabolism is correct the body is in it’s perfect state. Kombucha Tea and other lactic-acid containing drinks are considered superior to plain water in their ability to relieve thirst during physical activity. They give a lift by replacing lost mineral ions in a way that renews rather than depletes the body’s reserves.

Blood Orange

Product Type:Tea: Alternative; Container: 16 oz Glass
BevNET Review: Featuring the brightest colored liquid of the brand, Vibranz Blood Orange flavored kombucha is a well-executed product that successfully pairs the tart flavor of blood orange and fermented flavor of kombucha. It’s a relatively mild tasting product compared to kombucha drinks of old, with a light, almost watered down, fruit flavor that’s followed by a mild bodied hit of kombucha's acidity. There’s not too much sweetness to it and no carbonation. To that end, this is a product that you can drink very quickly in comparison to other kombucha products that we’ve sampled. While this seemingly expands the potential base of consumers for this product, we’re not quite sure how hardcore kombucha enthusiasts will react. Packaging is, like the other varieties, a 16 oz. proprietary glass bottle. It’s a nice looking bottle, with the yellow colored label popping nicely against the red backdrop provided by the liquid. Plus, it’s very easy to read and understand, which is always a plus. Again, our only negative for the product is the cheap filling to the paper label, which bubbles and retains any moisture that it comes in contact with. Overall, a good flavor, but we prefer some of the other Vibranz varieties that have a bit more pop.Reviewed on: 8/6/2010

Chai

Product Type:Tea: Alternative; Container: 16 oz Glass
BevNET Review: While this probably won’t be the best selling flavor of Vibranz (fruit flavors have more shelf appeal), it’s definitely the best in terms of execution. Why? It all comes down to the pairing of flavors, with the spiced flavor of the chai and the fermented note of flavor from the kombucha bolstering and enhancing one another. Plus, they’ve sweetened it with agave syrup, which gives it an extra earthy note at the end. As a result, both flavors taste great, with a yin and yang thing going on between the two. There’s a decent amount of sweetness to this variety compared to the rest of the line, although it still comes in at a reasonable 80 calories and 14g of carbohydrates per 16 oz. bottle. Functionally, the product contains raw, organic probiotic content, B vitamins, and EGCG. On the outside, we like their minimalist looking illustrations, which go nicely with the earthy and natural positioning of the product. The label is clutter free and easy to read, with only the important information on the front of the label. Overall, we think that Vibranz has executed this product almost perfectly.Reviewed on: 8/6/2010

Lemon Ginger

Product Type:Tea: Alternative; Container: 16 oz Glass
BevNET Review: There are two ginger flavored varieties of Vibranz Kombucha, Lemon Ginger, this flavor, and straight Ginger. Of the two, this is definitely the better tasting, with a slightly sweeter flavor profile and the citrus flavor of the lemon juice making for a more palatable product. Compared with kombucha products that were pulled from the shelves earlier in 2010, Vibranz’s Lemon Ginger Kombucha has less of that fermented taste and carbonation and more flavor from the added ingredients. We’re big fans of the blend that they’ve created, with a nice punch of ginger and sharp citrus finish making for a very flavorful product. This ultimately should make it more mainstream, while still maintaining the drink’s raw probiotic content. Of course, the one other side effect of a raw product is that it separates very quickly – so constant shaking is required. Functionally, there’s the drink’s probiotic content, which, among other things, can definitely help with hydration due to its lactic acid content. Packaging is a 16 oz. proprietary bottle, which has a rather simple paper label affixed to it. It feels like something that belongs in the health and natural channel, which is exactly where this product is being sold. The label is minimalist, but earthy, with clean illustrations and type treatment. However, the label, which appears to be paper, reacts to moisture, so it can get a slightly messy look from bubbling. Overall, though, a very enjoyable kombucha product.Reviewed on: 8/6/2010

Raspberry

Product Type:Tea: Alternative; Container: 16 oz Glass
BevNET Review: Of the fruit flavored Vibranz Kombucha varieties, this one is the best, thanks to a very natural raspberry flavor derived from organic raspberry puree. In addition to providing a very enjoyable raspberry flavor, it helps make the fermented flavor milder and definitely tolerable. That, at least for consumers who are new to kombucha, is a good thing, making this flavor a great one to transition to. Functionally, it is the same as the other Vibranz varieties, which means that it has raw probiotic content. Vibranz has a note on the bottle stating that no sugar was added after fermentation, which is the likely explanation for how this brand has achieved the 0.5% ABV or less that was required to get back onto the shelves. We really like the product’s packaging, which has a minimalist look that feels raw and unprocessed, just like what’s inside the bottle. It’s very appealing to the eyes and senses, looking more like a food product than something that’s functional. Overall, a very enjoyable product that’s well executed.Reviewed on: 8/6/2010
