Review: JKD
(Last Updated: Dec 01, 2014 at 11:39 AM)
The “JKD” variety of Bruce Tea, which is presumably named after Jeet Kune Do (Lee's martial arts style) is a blend of decaffeinated black tea, ginseng, royal jelly and honey. The flavor of the product is light and refreshing, with just the right amount of honey to complement the mellow flavor of the black tea. It is, however, pretty standard tasting; you can find very similar flavor in other products. The lack of caffeine is a somewhat unique, while the added ginseng and honey could help establish it as a premium product. On the outside, it’s all about Bruce Lee. Seeing as how Bruce Lee died over 40 years ago, we don’t know how broad the appeal is for this. Plus, we’re not sure what “blend by Bruce Lee” means. From our perspective, we think the base design is polished and attractive, but simplifying the naming convention (how many people will know what “JKD” means?) would be very helpful. All in all, this is a perfectly nice bottle of tea, but we feel as though it needs something else to really stand out in the crowded tea category.
