GuS (Grown-Up Soda): Dry Blackberry

Following the same approach used by its other varieties, GuS’ Dry Blackberry is a lightly sweetened carbonated soft drink that is flavored with juice (3 percent). The product, which has 95 calories and 24g of sugar per 12 oz. bottle, is certainly drier rather than sweet in its mouthfeel. This works quite well with the naturally light flavor of blackberry, which is tart rather than overly sweet (just as it should be). It’s a very straightforward tasting product, with just the right amount of sweetness and a clean finish. While the flavor is definitely not so far off from that of GuS' pomegranate variety, this product is certainly a bit more classic in terms of its flavor and positioning. That being said, this is definitely a nice bolt-on product for the brand, and one that fits in with the rest of the flavors in terms of its execution. We’ll say the same for the outside, which, with its 12 oz. glass bottle and white label, follows the template of the GuS brand. It definitely looks like a soda, but doesn’t come in a traditional soda bottle. Meanwhile, the label does a great job of appealing to the senses and communicating all the important info about the product. Overall, GuS’ Dry Blackberry is a very enjoyable product that helps to further round out its lineup.
