High Brew Coffee: Black & Bold

High Brew’s Black & Bold is a dairy-free, cold-brewed coffee that has only 20 calories per 8 oz. can. It’s arguably the brand's best tasting -- and most authentic -- cold brew coffee yet. The product contains a touch of sugar (1g of sugar per can) and no other sweeteners. While it’s a far cry from being what one would call “sweet,” the added sugar takes the edge off just enough that it doesn’t feel unsweetened. In addition, the sugar also seems to help smooth out the finish of the coffee, eliminating pretty much any bitterness that you might otherwise get from an unsweetened coffee (the use of cold brew certainly helps as well). Visually, we’re big fans of the look and feel of High Brew. It has a very buttoned up and eye-catching appearance, which is one of the strong suits of the line. In the case of Black & Bold, the color choice and copy feel very straightforward. However, we’re not sure if “Dairy Free” is enough to explain the difference (since some of the other flavors use stevia). Still, we really like where the company is headed with this addition to the lineup. Overall, this is definitely the most serious coffee drink of any of the High Brew flavors to date and we think the company nailed it.
