Review: Carrot Cake

Jubali’s Carrot Cake is a high pressure processed (HPP) blend of carrot, banana, cinnamon, ginger, and the company's almond milk. Of the four flavors of Jubali that we sampled, this one has the most unique and memorable flavor of the bunch. The name is a pretty accurate way of describing what’s inside the bottle. The carrot and banana are definitely the dominant flavors, while the cinnamon and ginger give it that spice that you’d find in carrot cake. The almond milk is largely a neutral flavor, but it does help enhance the creaminess of the product. All of the flavors work very well together and we love the complexity of it all. Plus, it’s much different than your standard fare carrot based smoothie or juice. Packaging is a 12 oz. bottle with a label around the middle. It’s not the most obvious package for an HPP product, but we do like how the coordination of color between the color of the liquid and the label. The branding itself has a whimsical vibe to it, which is a nice change of pace from the more serious looking style that you’ll find on many HPP juices. However, we do feel as though HPP or cold-pressed should be made a bit more prominent. Lastly, at the product’s price point (about $9) we think that this product will need to go organic at some point (their other varieties are). Overall, a very enjoyable product that’s the most unique flavor of the Jubali lineup.
