Review: Redeye

(Last Updated: Feb 24, 2015 at 10:50 AM)
Building off of what appears to be a similar base to its "Signature" product, Molly’s Milk Truck’s Redeye adds a shot of espresso. The combination of almond milk, cold brew coffee, agave, cinnamon, vanilla and espresso has a slightly more potent coffee flavor, but is still ultimately quite mild compared with other coffee drinks. That being said, the difference between the two varieties is somewhat subtle. Increasing the amount of coffee might be nice, simply to have something that can appeal to someone who wants a bit more coffee. Furthermore, disclosing how much caffeine in this flavor would definitely be helpful (and it couldn’t hurt on the other variety either). Still, if we’re evaluating this product without considering its counterpart, it’s certainly a solid product that doesn’t disappoint. Packaging, which is a 12 oz. fully wrapped bottle, looks like something that belongs in the refrigerated section. Given that that’s exactly where the product is sold, it certainly makes sense. The name “Redeye” gives the product a serious, more functional connotation. But to our earlier point about listing the caffeine content, we do feel as though a bit more explanation would help. Overall, this product definitely lives up to its “F’n Delicious” tagline and, with a some refinement to the label copy, seems well on its way.
