Muscle Milk Organic: Chocolate

Muscle Milk’s Organic Chocolate protein drink is a 120 calorie product that contains 15g of protein per 8.25 oz. Tetra Pak container. While it doesn’t contain milk, the protein is derived from milk protein concentrate. The viscous body has a reasonably pleasant chocolate flavor. This is due in part to the use of both sugar and stevia to sweeten the product (7g of sugar per carton), which also does a nice job of masking most of the stevia. Still, there’s a pretty heavy aftertaste to this product, albeit one that’s on par with similar products. All in all, it’s a fine product, but not one that stands out based on the flavor of the liquid. On the outside, we like the use of a screw top package, and it seems like an appropriate portion size for this type of product. However, the design of the product is quite busy, leaving something to be desired. Really, the product needs the Muscle Milk brand to carry it -- if you put any other logo in there, it would be easy to miss. Overall, we’re pleased to see Muscle Milk offering an organic product, but we think that -- especially when it comes to the design -- it could be improved upon.
