NuBru Handcrafted Cold Brew Coffee: Nu Bru Healthy Roast

While we’re not quite sure what makes this product a “healthy” roast (aside from perhaps its use of organic coffee, which seems like a stretch), it one of two unsweetened varieties of NuBru that are currently available (the other is Piñon Coffee). Both of the flavors are exceptional in terms of flavor, with a low-acid coffee that’s bold but very smooth. Having only one ingredient is always a plus, while the use of high pressure processing appears to help keep the flavor fresh. It may seem like splitting hairs, but we’re more partial to this one than its counterpart in that it finishes a bit more cleanly. Either way, you can’t go wrong. However, the two varieties have slightly different levels of caffeine (190mg of Pinon and 180mg for this one). Visually, the 12 oz. bottle looks very sharp, and NuBru has done a great job with the design. The black backdrop works nicely with the color of the liquid, which also helps the red logo really stand out. As we mentioned in the review of the coconut milk-based variety, we do feel as though the company needs to do a bit more to point out the different name of each product. And in the case of the two unsweetened varieties, having something that quickly explains the difference between the two SKUs would be very helpful. Overall, a very enjoyable product that only needs minor refinement.
