Red Thread Good’s flagship flavor is this variety, known as Purist. It is made with single-origin coffee from Nicaragua that is both fair trade and USDA Organic certified. The product, which is available in both ready to drink and concentrate versions, is full-bodied but quite smooth. There’s only a slightly acidic note to the flavor, which, as with most cold-brewed coffee, is much better than what you’d get from hot-brewed coffee. There’s no sweetness to the product, but it doesn’t really seem to need it as the smoothness of the coffee gives it a surprisingly easy to drink flavor. And truthfully, we’d have no problem drinking the concentrate straight. In terms of the packaging and positioning, we feel as though the 32 oz. concentrate is in a much more mature state than the 12 oz. ready-to-drink version. For starters, the plastic packaging looks the part of an artisanal product thanks to it similarities to cold-pressed juice. A 12 oz. amber bottle, on the other hand, makes us think of a carbonated beverage. From there, we feel as though the product’s logo and name need a bit of refinement. “Red Thread Good” feels like a slightly awkward name to say in practice and the current design of it is somewhat hard to read. Otherwise, the label certainly makes it obvious that this is a bottle of cold-brewed coffee. We just wish the branding stood out a bit more. Overall, a very enjoyable cold brew coffee, whether you pick the ready-to-drink or concentrate form.
