Speed Energy Unleaded is the only sugar-free flavor in the brand lineup. In terms of taste, the bright pink flavor is what we’d describe as a “citrus berry” that’s very much in the realm of standard energy drink flavors. It’s sweetened with sucralose and ace-k, which provides a good amount of sweetness and only mild aftertaste. Functionally, the product has the same blend as the other Speed products, including taurine, caffeine, glucuronolactone, inositol, ginseng, and guarana. It certainly seems adequate. Packaging is a slim 12 oz. can with a pink accent color, which makes us wonder if this is specifically targeting females. However, we think that the name “Unleaded” is a bit ambiguous -- it could mean either caffeine free or sugar free -- and you have to read the small type along the top ring of the can to figure it out. Making this more prominent would certainly help. Overall, it’s a drinkable diet energy drink, but it’s about average as far as diet energy drinks go.
