Stumptown Coffee Roasters: Coconut Cold Brew

This variety of Stumptown Cold Brew uses coconut cream for both flavoring and to create a dairy-free version of its cold brew with milk. Made with cold brew coffee, coconut cream and cane sugar, the product has a straightforward but somewhat intense flavor. The intensity comes from the coconut cream, which takes a little getting used to at first. However, as you drink the product the flavor of the coffee starts to hit your palate a bit more and the blend is quite enjoyable. The addition of coconut is a nice change of pace as well, offering something that’s a bit more adventurous than Stumptown's other flavors. As a whole, we really like what the company has created. It’s rich and creamy and the dairy-free aspect is definitely a very nice selling point. The coffee itself is still very much what we’ve come to expect from Stumptown: bold but smooth from start to finish. On the packaging front, the 16 oz. brown carton looks like Stumptown's other year-round products that use this package. From an aesthetics point of view, we really like the eye-catching professional look of it. However, as Stumptown adds more varieties, you definitely have to examine more closely to figure out which flavor is which. Furthermore, the dairy-free aspect of the product seems like something that might be missed. Whether or not this needs to be addressed is really a question as to where the company wants to take the brand. In the meantime, this is a nice addition to the line and one that definitely adds to the overall breadth of Stumptown’s cold brew portfolio.
