Thirsty Buddha: Thirsty Buddha Coconut Water

Produced in Thailand and marketed by a Canadian company, Thirsty Buddha is now making its way into the U.S. market. Their flagship product is this one, a 16 oz. steel can of not from concentrate coconut water. To some extent, if you’ve had one of these products, you’ve had them all; the flavor varies only ever so slightly from brand to brand. That said, this is a perfectly enjoyable and fine canned coconut water. Packaging is ultimately where these kinds of coconut water products vary quite greatly, and in the case of Thirsty Buddha, we like what they’ve created. The product has a playful but healthy vibe, with realistic images of coconuts on top of a white background. The Buddha image fits with the healthy look of the product, while also serves as an icon for the brand. However, having both French and English text on the back of the can (needed for the Canadian market) makes for a pretty text heavy look to the product. That’s something that we could definitely live without. Ultimately, this is a perfectly fine coconut water that has a nice look compared to some of the other products that are on the market today. Is that good enough to compete? Tough to say, but Thirsty Buddha definitely has a nice starting point for bringing some of their other flavors to the U.S. market.
