Expo West 2022 Gallery: Hops, Barley, Probiotics, Prebiotics and More

Expo West’s status as one of the beverage industry’s top showcases for new natural products remained strong in 2022 with young and established brands unveiling their latest innovations. In this gallery, the first of several covering the Expo’s new product launches, we take a look at some of the functional beverages, sparkling waters and plant-based milks that stood out on the show floor.

Vive Organic

Juice shot maker Vive is scaling up its production, literally, with its first non-shot offering: a line of immunity boosting sparkling drinks in 12 oz. cans. The drinks are available in three “fresh pressed” flavors including Lemon Lime, Blackberry Elderberry and Orange Turmeric and are certified organic. The line is rolling out now in the brand’s Los Angeles backyard and will retail for $2.99 per unit.

PATH

Sustainably packaged water brand PATH introduced its first flavored sparkling line with Raspberry Orange, Lemon Lime and Grapefruit Mango varieties. The flavors are packaged in the brand’s 20.3 oz. reusable aluminum bottles. In addition to singles, the company is also exploring variety and single SKU multipacks for the line. The launch comes as the company also increases its co-branding partnership business to create custom bottles for corporate customers.

Hoplark

Known for its line of RTD hopped teas, Hoplark is now making a more direct play for the non-alcoholic beer space with Hoplark 0.0, a craft beverage launching now. The zero proof drink is not a beer, however, and instead uses double dry-hopped Citra Hops, sparkling water and citric acid to approximate the experience of beer without gluten or calories. It is available online for $28 per case and will also launch in retailers like BevMo, Natural Grocers, Sprouts, Fry’s Food Stores and King Soopers.

Humm

As the company expands its platform beyond kombucha, Humm (exhibiting at the show under the name Humm Functional Beverages) sampled its new Probiotic line of sodas and seltzers. The sodas, sweetened with allulose syrup, are sold in Lemon Lime and Berry Cream and the zero sugar, zero calorie seltzers come in Peach and Raspberry Lime varieties. Previously announced in December as an ecommerce product, the drinks are now making their way to retail.

The Bu

Kombucha brand The Bu is tossing its hat into the functional sparkling beverage arena. The company debuted a 12 oz. canned line of sparkling probiotic waters in Mango, Lime, Grapefruit and Tangerine flavors, which contain zero sugar and are infused with antioxidants.

Golden Wing

Molson Coors Beverage Company is jumping into the plant-based milk category with Golden Wing, a barley milk brand developed by L.A. Libations. Available in a single 32 oz. SKU for $5.99, the beverage contains four ingredients: barley, sunflower extract, sea salt and shitake mushrooms.

Arriba

Arriba, known for its line of chelada beverages, showcased its Arriba Fresquita line of cane sugar-sweetened Mexican sodas. The drinks are available in Strawberry, Mexican Lime, Coconut, Grapefruit and Mandarina flavors in 12 oz. glass bottles.

Olipop

Prebiotic beverage producer Olipop has added Tropical Punch to its expanding line of sparkling tonics. In step with its existing products, the new flavor is made with botanicals and plant fiber and contains 3 grams of sugar per 12 oz. can.

Oaza

Oaza introduced its rebranded and reformulated line of functional cold brew coffees with added electrolytes and L-theanine. Each 7.5 oz. can packs in 200 mg of caffeine and the line comes in Black, Cacao Mocha and Oat Milk varieties.
