In the cannabis business, there’s still so much in motion from a legal standpoint that entrepreneurs are constantly subject to regulatory and financial uncertainty. So how do you navigate the river when its path keeps moving? We’ll talk about it at Cannabis Forum next month, with experts who spend their days charting the course.
The Cannabis Forum for Food and Beverage, presented by BevNET and NOSH on June 14 in New York, will feature talks from three key industry experts, discussing the changing regulatory framework on CBD and THC, financial planning for cannabis businesses and brand trademarking for infused CPG brands.
With a key FDA hearing on the state of CBD as a food ingredient taking place just a few weeks before the Cannabis Forum, the thoughts of Alva Mather, a partner at the law firm DLA Piper, will be an important touchpoint for attendees. Mather, who brings experience in both the cannabis space and food and beverage industries, will give a snapshot of the current state of regulation and down-the-road tipping points for federal and state rules.
One of the main areas of law affecting cannabis brands is also subject to interpretation by financial experts. That’s why Michael Harlow, who leads the CohnReznick Cannabis Practice, is a highly important speaker at the Cannabis Forum. Harlow will discuss the ways investment and financial planning are evolving in an industry whose constituents at times struggle to find reliable banking options. He will outline best accounting practices for new businesses and for those taking on investors in an invaluable talk.
With the flood of new brand entrants in the industry, and with much white space, there is this open question, as well: how do you protect your innovation and brand assets from competitors? Larry Sandell, Attorney at Law at Mei & Mark LLP, is a registered patent attorney and veteran of cannabis legal matters who will walk attendees through the steps one must take to protect intellectual property, drawing on his experience advising innovative cannabis companies.
The Cannabis Forum Summer 2019 agenda was released this week and features industry trailblazers that will also explore growth strategies, best practices, brand case studies and more. Plenty of time will also be left to network, ask questions, and build partnerships in this rapidly evolving industry.
The one-day Cannabis Forum Summer 2019 is taking place on Friday, June 14th from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at CNVS Midtown NYC, located at 635 West 42nd Street New York, NY 10036.
Additional information can be found on the Cannabis Forum Summer 2019 website. If your company is interested in generating additional industry exposure, sponsorship opportunities are still available.
