Vänersborg, Sweden A Danish - Swedish startup is targeting to disrupt the energy drink and coffee market with the launch of a highly concentrated instant energy drink mix that delivers up to ¼ gallon (one liter) of energy drink from just 0.42 oz (12 grams) of powder, providing the avid energy drink consumer a noticeably inexpensive alternative as beverage prices continue to elevate.
At first conceived in 2023 by a Swedish entrepreneur as counterreaction to inflationary stresses across Sweden, the project began as an effort to create a more accessible alternative to traditional RTD energy drinks. What started as a budget friendly initiative has since advanced into a beverage innovation attracting attention from consumers, Hospitality venues and industry professionals also.
The new startup's proprietary super concentrate is presently available in two flavors. Fresh Oranges, inspired by Spanish oranges, and Blue Raspberry Marshmallow, a fun and fresh flavor profile intended to appeal to the up-to-date energy drink consumer.
“…consumers across Europe have experienced significant raises in both energy drink and coffee prices over the past several years”, said the company's founder and visionary Michael Blackshore. “What started as an endeavor to formulate a low cost alternative has turned into a product that solved several challenges at once. Price, Transport, Space efficiency and environmental effect.”
Industry professionals observe that elevating beverage costs have placed increasing pressure on both consumers and businesses. The startup highlights that coffee prices has peaked by at least 60% since 2023, creating an demand for alternative caffeine substitute that provide matching functionality at a lower cost per serving.
“The beverage market is currently going threw continuous developments as consumers seek exceptional value and convenience”, continues Michael Blackshore. “Products that reduce transportation costs, minimize space requirements and provide price stability are becoming a demand in retail and hospitality channels.”
Outside the private consumer market, the company reports growing interest from bars, clubs, and hospitality venues. Unlike traditional energy drinks that require extensive refrigeration and shelf space, the dry powdered concentrate occupies approximately 2 percent of the storage space required for an equivalent volume of canned beverages.
“For bars and clubs operating in high-demand environments, every square foot matters”, Michael continues. “The capability to serve large volumes of energy drinks while freeing storage space for other products or serving spaces creates a attractive operational edge.”
The startup expects its instantmix formula to appeal especially to price-conscious consumers. Its flagship retail product creates approximately 1.85 gallons (7 liters) of drinkable energy drink and is expected to retail for approximately $8 USD. According to the company, this volume is roughly equivalent to 28 standard cans of Red Bull, while costing only 10th as much on a per-serving basis.
Environmental sustainability has emerged as another important benefit of the product. Because only 0.42 oz of powder are required to produce a quarter gallon of finished beverage, transportation and packaging requirements are spectacularly reduced compared to traditional RTD energy drinks.
The company estimates that its distribution strategy can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by as much as 98 percent compared to traditional energy drink logistics, due to the removal of transporting large volumes of water and heavy metal packaging through conventional supply chains.
While the original formulation was developed by the project's Swedish founder, the final product was in secret refined in collaboration with beverage industry veterans with previous experience at The Coca-Cola Company in Georgia, USA and Symrise in Ireland, bringing decades of formulation and flavor development expertise to the project.
“We wanted to ensure that affordability never came at the expense of quality for our customers,” said the founder Michael Blackshore. “Working with experienced beverage professionals allowed us to improve the taste, functionality and consumer experience while maintaining our original vision.”
The company is now running a Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to accelerate mass production capabilities and meet anticipated market request. Funds raised through the campaign will be used to expand manufacturing capacity, scale distribution, and support international market expansion.
Consumers, retailers, and hospitality venues interested in learning more about the project can visit the campaign at Indiegogo.
