PRESS RELEASE posted by Piccadily Agro Industries Limited
NEW DELHI (Aug. 19, 2026) — Indri Single Malt is reinforcing its stardom on the international luxury whisky stage. Produced by Piccadily Agro Industries near the foothills of the Himalayas, Indri Single Malt continues its historic winning streak by earning the top three spots in the Best Indian Whisky and the Best Single Malt Indian Whisky categories at the International Whisky Competition (IWC) in Louisville this summer. Indri Single Malt is the only Indian whisky to have scored above 90 points at the prestigious competition.
Since Piccadily launched Indri Single Malt in 2022, it has consistently outperformed many of the leading names in global whisky and earned more than 141 prestigious awards, including Best in Show, Double Gold at the 2023 Whiskies of the World Awards. For Piccadily, these victories represent a long-term commitment to earning global recognition for India’s still relatively young premium whisky market.

India’s Continued Rise in Global Whisky
Indri is part of a new generation of Indian whisky brands challenging long-held perceptions about where the world’s best whiskies can be produced. While Scotland, Ireland, Japan, and the United States have historically dominated the global premium whisky conversation, India’s distinctive climate, locally grown barley, and approach to maturation are creating an increasingly compelling category of Indian single malts.
Indri is crafted using premium six-row Indian barley sourced from Rajasthan and produced at Piccadily’s distillery in Haryana. It’s matured in a region where scorching summers, near-freezing winters, and high humidity during monsoon season intensify the whisky’s interaction with the oak.
Indri’s growing international recognition reflects Piccadily’s focus on ingredient quality, distillation, cask selection, and maturation. “For us, every global recognition reinforces what we have believed from the beginning — that India has the capability to produce spirits that stand alongside the very best in the world,” says Madhu Kanna, International Head of Business at Piccadily Agro Industries Limited. “Our ambition has never been simply to win awards. It is to change the way the world thinks about Indian spirits and demonstrate that extraordinary whisky can come from India.”
The company’s focus on quality and innovation comes at a time when interest in premium Indian spirits is accelerating among whisky enthusiasts and collectors worldwide. With three of the IWC’s top-ranked Indian whiskies coming from a single brand, Kanna says he hopes Indri puts Indian single malt on the radar of a new generation of global whisky drinkers. “Indian whisky is no longer simply an emerging category,” says Kanna. “It is earning its place on the world stage through quality, craftsmanship, and authenticity. We are proud to be part of that movement.”
