The Independent Rum Importer Unveils an Ultra-Rare Fiji Single Cask and a Historic Pot Still Release from the Defunct 10 Cane Distillery
NEW YORK, NY (October 1, 2026) – Holmes Cay Rum announces the release of two exceptional, ultra-limited single cask expressions for the holiday season: the Fiji 2004 Pot Still 21 Year (Rarest Edition) and the Trinidad 2012 13 Year (Single Cask Edition). Both releases showcase rare provenance and authentic multi-climate aging.
Fiji 2004 21 Year Pot Still (Rarest Edition)
One of the oldest Fiji expressions ever presented in the United States, the Fiji 2004 21 Year Pot Still is a single mark distilled at South Pacific Distilleries in Lautoka, Fiji, from locally produced molasses. Tropically aged for 12 years, it spent an additional 5 years in the UK in an American oak recycled rum cask before finishing with 4 years of aging in New York State. Bottled at 58% ABV, this ultra-rare boxed release is strictly limited to 188 bottles with a suggested retail price of $279 (700 ml).
Tasting Notes
Subtle grass and fresh banana on the nose. On the tongue, a burst of citrus, pepper, and buttery caramel. That creamy texture transforms into a long, dry finish of oak and sandalwood.
“Our previous Fiji 2004 bottlings at 16 and 17 years old were defining releases for Holmes Cay, showing off the tropical intensity and bright fruit of South Pacific Distilleries,” said Holmes Cay Rum founder Eric Kaye. “Returning to this final cask at 21 years old offers a remarkable look at how additional aging in a temperate climate has enhanced the spirit — adding deep oak complexity and refined spice without losing the lively character that made the original releases so compelling. Sharing rums of this exceptional maturity and elegance are the heart of Holmes Cay’s mission.”
Trinidad 2012 13 Year
The Trinidad 2012 13 Year edition offers a rare glimpse into the legacy of the legendary, now-closed 10 Cane distillery. Breaking from Trinidad's traditional molasses-based style, this expression was crafted from fresh sugarcane juice, fermented for five days with a specialized yeast strain, double pot distilled and initially placed into an ex-Cognac cask.
Following 4 years of tropical aging, the cask was transferred to England for 5 years in an ex-rum cask, before undergoing a final 4-year maturation in New York State. Yielding just 96 bottles, this 13-year single cask bottling represents a unique piece of Trinidadian rum history.
Tasting Notes
Expect plenty of honey, brown sugar, and toffee leading to ripe banana and custard, punctuated by beautiful floral top notes.
