BevNET Review: The “Core” variety of Beaver Buzz is their take on the “classic” energy drink flavor. In this case, they’ve given the product a bit more fruit flavor (it’s sort of a citrus-berry), which helps keep the energy ingredients at bay. The product packs in 150 mg of caffeine (per can), taurine, ginseng, guarana, inositol, and d-glucuronolactone into a sleek 12 oz. can. Recently, the product got a bit of a makeover, with a new, more aggressive looking Beaver Buzz logo taking the place of the old, more kitschy beaver with a hockey stick. The result is a product that has a much better looking and more polished presence, with the Canadian angle working more harmoniously with what the product is all about. Plus, it’s a nice tasting alternative to the countless other “classic” style energy drinks, delivering a smooth and crisp flavor that lacks much in the way of aftertaste. BevNET Review: Beaver Buzz's Green Melon is a melon flavored energy drink packaged in a 16 oz. can. That’s certainly a first for us, with “green melon” flavoring more or less resembling what a honeydew melon might taste like if paired with a lot of sugar, some carbonation, and energy ingredients. In all seriousness, it’s a nice change of pace from green apple or other sweet and sour fruit flavors. Plus, it’s something unique to the Beaver Buzz brand – that’s always nice in a category that’s as crowded as the energy drink sector. From an energy point of view, this product delivers 100 mg of caffeine per serving (that’s 200 per can) as well as guarana, taurine, ginseng, insoitol, and D-Glucuronolactone. Packaging, like the other flavors, now features a more angry, almost rabid looking, image of a beaver. It keeps with the slightly off kilter style of the brand, while also making it look more in line with what we’d expect from an energy drink (sporty and aggressive). Overall, very clean presentation, enjoyable flavor, and good kick make this a good entry to the revised lineup.Reviewed on: 9/15/2009

BevNET Review: Beaver Buzz's non-carbonated green-tea / energy hybrid looks and feels a lot like an energy drink, but tastes almost entirely like a tea. As opposed to our initial tasting, Beaver Buzz Green Tea seems to have a more pronounced tea flavor. That’s good by us, both because it makes the drinking experience more enjoyable and because it’s likely to open this product to new consumers who will appreciate its lack of energy drink flavor. Also, it has less caffeine than the other varieties, weighing in at 68mg per 8 ounce serving. On the other hand, this is probably the only flavor where the revised and more aggressive looking beaver icon doesn’t seem to add anything. Not that it’s bad looking or anything, but in this case, it’s simply that aggressive and green tea aren’t exactly things that go together. Overall, we like the flavor much more than we did the first go around, but this is the only flavor where the change in logo design doesn’t improve our opinion about the look of the product. BevNET Review: Beaver Buzz’s entry into the energy shot category comes in the form of a well designed 2 oz. bottle that’s been given a berry citrus flavor. Using a blend of sugar and sucralose, the product has 40 calories and a high level of sweetness. This works well with the drink’s fruit flavoring, making the drink easy to chug down without too much energy aftertaste. And with 121 mg of caffeine per bottle, it certainly has some kick to it. The packaging is our favorite part of this product: it looks like a miniature flask! They’ve kept the black label very clean, with minimal text and a small, clear leaf icon that allows you to see inside the bottle. All in all, the look of this product is innovative and eye catching, especially among the sea of 5 Hour knockoffs that are out there. Overall, we think that Beaver Buzz has gotten this product right, blending enjoyable flavor and unique packaging to create something that definitely stands out.Reviewed on: 7/29/2009
